I currently have setup both YaDis and My Movies on my Dune 301. Both are working well, playing my MKV over the network, etc.

What I had hoped to do (with three young children in the house) was to use My Movies in conjunction with the Ipad app. Within the ipad app you could place parental controls on what movies in the collection are visible, that way the kids could only launch G or PG movies. While this does work, the problem is that so many movies are unrated and the parental controls on the app either let you have unrated visible or not. I tried to overwrite the rating in my movies collection management with my own rating, but it is not something that a user can change. This makes it a bit more challenging to use parental controls. I wish you could apply parental controls to one of the personal fields and I could then use that, but you cannot (You can filter the view on the app, but you cannot lock that filter like you can parental controls).

I then started playing with YaDis. I have two instances of YaDis on my PC with Kids movies in one folder and tied to one instance and PG13 and UP in a separate folder and tied to the other instance of YaDis. I have both Yadis instances showing up and working on my Dune, however, my children could easily choose the PG13 and up folder as there is no way to hide it.

I'm curious as to what others are doing for parental controls on these units as I am new to media streaming and I might be missing something. Is Zappiti any better at this? I was going to play with that next.

At this point I either need to push the my movies folks to make a few smalll changes to the iphone/ipad app to make it more flexible with parental controls or push YaDis (Fred?) to come up with iphone/ipad app that can do that for YaDis.
