Default HD TV-101 with BD ISO

Can it do anything with BD ISO at all? BD ISO with "lite" playback or is there just no BD ISO support? Will there be ISO support if not?

Thanks,
craigr

The TV101 does play a BD ISO fine, but it is only BD-Lite so no access to the disc menu.
I tested this on a unit I borrowed to write a review just after it was released and found it to play everything that my Prime 3.0 would, just with no menu support of a BD rip.

Thanks again Mark.

I read your review and ordered a 101 yesterday. Main thing for me was already having 2 Base 3.0 units I want to use yaDIS on all three without having to do anything different.

Craig,

Please post your thoughts once you get it. Are youR movies BD movie-only iso or what?

Curious if the 101 plays that just fine or not.

Thanks

You can't have a movie-only ISO. An ISO is a full disc image, so unless you want to spend a lot of time manually removing parts using a range of tools and then recreate as an ISO, it is an all or nothing rip.

As I said though the TV101 will happily play a BD ISO, just without access to the disc menu.

Where in my post did i use the word rip?

I simply asked if he stored his movies as movie only iso (the way i have all mine) or not.

I guess it doesnt matter if the 101 plays full disc or movie only.

Thanks

What do you think the term 'rip' means?
To me it is the process of copying the contents (fully or partially) from a BD or DVD disc to a HDD. So from my point of view if you have any movies on a HDD that you got off a disc then you 'ripped' them.

How do you create a movie only ISO then? As I said generally an ISO is a full disc image and for a movie only copy you would use something like MakeMKV to create an MKV file. Yes you can then recreate an ISO from the MKV, but IMO there is no point as a Dune will happily play an MKV.

Default Re: HD TV-101 with BD ISO

I actually have lots of movie only ISO backups. I use DVDFab for this and select "movie only" and then choose just the HD sound track and English subs. This is then output as an ISO file. I sometimes use ISO for this because it plays back better on some of my friends systems. I prefer folder structure, but sometimes I use ISO.

I also have BD ISO for all my TV series BD because yaDIS can't work properly with BD folder structure for TV series. I also sometimes even rip each episode from a TV series BD to its own ISO. So I have a single episode BD ISO. Again, this is so that it works better with yaDIS.

In any event, as long as the 101 works well as a Lite player it should be fine.
