Default Re: Problem with version 2.5.5.0

In the past I ripped my DVDs to my HDDs by attaching them to my pc. Then I placed them in the Dune Max bay. Then I would scrape on the pc with Zap while they were in the Dune and then export the scrapes from Zap to whatever HDD was in the Dune from the the pc via ethernet and thereafter swap the HDDs around as necessary to view the film I wanted. Using version 2.1.2735.100 I never had a problem apart from the fact that Zap was a bit poor at scraping and I had to do a fair bit of tidying up. I use ethernet and gigabit homeplugs which have always worked fine with no problems. This time around I attached the HDDs to the pc's hot swap bay as per your instruction and scraped everything before then placing them in the Dune.

So if I have understood you correctly and I leave the HDD in the Dune (which I think I would prefer to do) but work on it from the pc the Absolute Path should be: storage_name://storage_XXXXX/video/movies? Is that correct?

I don't know what you mean when you say "THE MOVIES THAT DONT OPEN MAY BE BROKEN PATHS,DID YOU USE 25 OR 27" I have installed Zap on my new Windows 7 machine 64 bit and downloaded 2.5.5.0 or to be absolutely precise I downloaded 2.4.27.0 but was straightaway offered the opportunity to upgrade to 2.5.5.0 which I did. Thanks for your continued help - hopefully I am nearly there!!

Hi,yeah i think i see,if im right you hot swap the hdds (id buy a double dock for the other 2) now the prob is you use one at a time,if this is right then ap is not a prob, you were right to do each hdd with its own zap folder, not sure why the movies wont play after scraping with 5.5,what i ment was that if you scraped with versions 25 or 27 it broke the paths so the movies wouldnt play.
If you installed 27 and then upgraded to 5.5 then your paths may be corrupted.
If you didnt install 27 then il have to think on it a bit.

Thanks Peterbus - no I did not install 27, went straight to 2.5.5.0. I think I'll have another go with just one of the HDDs to see if I can move things along, perhaps delete everything and try again; bit of a chore but worth it if I can get a result.. One final question - are you saying I can have the same AP on each of the HDDs? I do find these "paths" a bit of a black art but I'll keep at it.

i dont hot swap so its a dark area for me,all i know is thad any hdd attached to the dune has a storage_name://456788/video/movies attachment to it,so in configuration when you are asked where your hdd will reside you mark dune this gives it the storage_name number so the ap is automatic.
so each hdd (if you have each hdd attached to wherever zap identifies each hdd/file/movie.
the easiest way is to attach all to the max with one zap folder, with the three hdds attached they will all have storage_name attachments under one zap folder,i have over 42 hdds attached to the dune/pc/server/whs
as someone commented "a bit over the top" but i have a great setup, all blu-ray isos min 40 gig each rip.
2.5.5 is the first version that seems to work very well, for me anyway.
still cant figure why some of your rips dont work, especially when they did before.

Okay now I am really, really confused!! I started over from scratch with one of my HDDs. I deleted the Zappiti file on the pc and I deleted everything Zappiti on the HDD. So effectively I was starting with a clean sheet of paper. I was offered version 2.5.6.0 and decided to give it a try. I then re-scraped everything. On this particular HDD I have 20 TV shows and about 70 movies, mostly iso. Every TV show works perfectly. However only the first 12 movies work!!!

"Drive" was movie number 12 and it opens fine. I pressed the Info button on the Dune remote and get the following:

File Information
File: Drive
Location: Storage_1b655/VIDEOS/_Zappiti/02/Drive
URL storage_name://storage...rive (2011)/Drive.iso

I then tried "Headhunters" which displays fine on the screen but when I press 'Enter' as normal on the Dune remote nothing happens. So I pressed Info and this is the result which is quite different from the one above for "Drive":

File Information
File dune_folder.txt
Location Storage_1b655/Videos...ppiti/02/Headhunters
Size 465 bytes
Modified 20 August 2012, 18:49:33
Accessed 20 August 2012, 18:49:33

I also pressed Information on the Pop Up Menu key on the Dune remote and got:

Folder Information
Folder Headhunters
Location Storage_1b655/Videos/_Zappiti/02
Modified 20 August 2012, 18:49:33
Accessed 20 AQugust 2012, 18:49:33

Why has this happened? Is it some form of file corruption that means my TV shows all work perfectly but only 12 movies out of 70 work? Am I going mad. Should I go outside and bang my head with a very large plank of wood? Am I ever going to find a solution to this ongoing problem or do I give up and go back to Zappiti 2.1.2735.100 which although not so good on scraping simply never let me down?

YEAH its broke, zap is pointing at the database location rather than the file.
zap shouldnt show (Location Storage_1b655/Videos/_Zappiti/02)
this showed up after verson 14,the script numbers were too long for windows and so wrong paths.
2.5.5 works perfect (havent tried 6.0)
this ment that some movies worked and some dont,
dont mistake the zap database for folder paths.
Location: Storage_1b655/VIDEOS/_Zappiti/02/Drive
URL storage_name://storage...rive (2011)/Drive.iso
the top line is the data the bottom is your movie on the hdd
when its broken zap points to the top line iand ignores the bottom.
god this is hard to explain and to fix.
your missing a step somewhere.
try 2.5.5 ,erase all databases ,clean in configure etc and rescrape and export, thats what i done.

I've tried 2.5.5 and 2.5.6. Deleted everything and started from scratch in each case, also scraped each item individually. Still exactly the same result. TV Shows are perfect. First 11 Movies are perfect but after that nothing works (as described in yesterday's post). Time to give up I think unless anyone has anything else for me to try.

Okay, now this is getting really, really silly. Further to my post above I took the same HDD, cleaned Zappiti off it and then scraped via an old laptop using 2.1.2735.100 - and all my movies opened perfectly on the Dune. So surely it can't be me can it? Why do 2.5.5 and 2.5.6 scrape all my TV Shows so they open perfectly on the Dune but only 12 of my movies open, the remaining 50 or so just won't open at all as described in my earlier post - I'm not qualified to say so but surely there must be a bug in 2.5.5 and 2.5.6?

I am assuming that you have always cleared out your USER data folders as well?
If you are using the default folder for Zappiti, what is in (assuming the system drive is C: ) C:\Users\Your USerid\Appdata\Local\Zappiti ??
Unless you have deleted this folder, you may not get a clean install, as it stores all your version db's in the folder e.g. database-2.1.2735.100.db

Also you might just try upgrading your 2.1.2735.100 system direct to 2.5.6 and seeing what happens

Thanks for that Twol. Yes I do ensure that everything is cleared out before I start again, especially the Zap folder under AppData. I too was thinking about trying the upgrade from 2735 to 2.5.6 you mentioned but I'm still puzzled why all my TV Shows should open perfectly while only 12 or so of my 70 Movies do. And it is always the first 12 in the list so I get to "Drive" which opens as it should but the next one which is an old Western refuses as do the remainder which follow. Apart from the differences given in my earlier posts I can't find an obvious reason. It is really most odd don't you think?
