Default Subtitles don't display with video_ts neither external ones with MKV

Hello,

I'm a newbie with Dune. I just bought it Friday. For the moment I didn't installed any jukebox. The idea is to convert all my DVD's and put them on my NAS on the network and play them via my Dune smart D1 on my TV.
I converted a DVD with DVDFab HD Decrypter into a VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folder. So I have now a folder "The movie (2012)" with beneath the folders VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS. When I select the folder via Dune and press play. The movie is played correctly, but there are no subtitles even if I press the button subtitle. I tried to add an external srt file like "The movie (2012).nl.srt", but nothing helped. I even changed the system settings for subtitles in external/internal and vice versa. The latest stable firmware is installed. I even upgraded to the latest beta firmware. I use DVDFab HD Decrypter because when I create an ISO file from my DVD, apparently doesn't recognize the format. A message appears on the screen, that format could not be played. With DVDFab HD Decrypter I take the option "Main menu" or "Hoofdfilm", because I also noticed that Dune can't handle the DVD menu. Ok, I convert the DVD main movie to an MKV file and will add the subtitles .srt files seperately in the same folder. So, I have now a folder "The movie (2012)" with a file beneath "The movie (2012).mkv" and a file "The movie (2012).nl.srt". The movie plays correctly, but the subtitle doesn't appear. Now I'm really starting to get discouraged and looking for answers on forums and solutions due to an extremely lack of manuals and information.
So I hope the someone can help me, tell me what the naming conventions are, how do I set certain settings to able to have one or more subtitles with VIDEO_TS, why the iso files are not recognized, why one or more subtitles are not seen with MKV. The only thing that work is to integrate the subtitles in the MKV file.

Many, many thanks for an answer/solution to my problems.

Default Re: Subtitles don't display with video_ts neither external ones with MKV

I rip all my BD movies with ClownBD + AnyDVD HD. I select force subs withing ClownBD options, and my Dune D1 doesn't recognized the force subs either. I have to turn the on manually, which is usually subs file #2.

I rip all my SD movies with MakeMKV, and the dune doesn't recognized force subs with MKV files either. I've got to turn them on as well.

I rip all my DVD TV Shows as ISO withe AnyDVD HD, and they play fine in both my Dune and PCH. However, I do not know if subs work since I haven't payed attention to this for TV Shows.

As far as I know the only way the Dune will recognized alien subs is if you turn the on manually, which is PIA since at time I'll have like 6 different sub options, and I have to almost test them all to see which one is the force subs.

I used to own a cheap ($80 dollars) AIOS media player base on the realtek 1185 chip, and it recognized all force subs without any issues.
