Default MyMovies for iPAD + Dune HD Max

Hi guys,

I recently tried Zappiti on iPad and it's very good way to browse your collection with more options than what is available through the regular Dune interface. Because I was satisfied with Zappiti I thought I would give MyMovies for iPad a try too.

For those who have a smaller library of TV shows and movies come first - you have to give this a try!

It is quite simply an awesome way of viewing browsing your movies and launching them on your Dune, there are countless ways to filter your and browse your media, it provides a link to online trailers for your movies, has a link within the App to IMDB, provides bios for actors and directors, and, it looks great! The only downside - it doesn't support TV shows.

It's nice to see so many options available these days for Dune, I had all but left MyMovies behind particularly but this iPad app has made MyMovies relevant again for Dune - I give it two thumbs up!

+1

The only missing thing is the ability to have the TV shows on the app. But i think this is just a matter of time before we will see it

Agreed, I like the App so much that I'm tempted to reprocess my Tv shows on MyMovies as discs!

I've also noticed that the MyMovies App seems to browse my media a lot quicker than the Zappiti App.

The one aspect (other than TV shows) that I don't like about MyMovies in general is that it is disc-based rather than movie based. But, I do acknowledge that while this is a negative for me (I rip only the movie not the complete disc) it is likley a positive for others. For me because I rip only the movie this proves annoying in some cases where some movies are only available as box sets and an option to setup a movie that's not available for purchase separately is unavailable. It's not a dealbreaker and it's probably best for those that rip entire discs but it is a shortcoming for those that rip only the movie.

Maybe I'm just arguing semantics, but the profiles are actually release-based. It just so happens to be that most releases are sold on a disc.
But I agree it can be annoying. I only rip the actual movie stream, and even then I tend to leave out various other streams. I'm usually not interested in director's commentary audio tracks, nor do I care to see the italian dubbed version of titanic. Same story with subtitles really, so I leave those out as well. Sometimes they even provide you with the luxury of a Dolby Digital as well as a DTS version of the same audio track, in which case I only rip either one to save disk space. None of these choices are reflected in My Movies profile info, so the information pane is somewhat useless when browsing a movie collection.

Well put and pretty much why prior to discovering the iPad App I had all but abandoned it (though I'm still using it on my HTPC).
