clock - ntp server down
the clock in dp500/dp508 with 2.8.3 firmware doesn't work.
the ntp server is down ( 64.44.160.38 in the firmware)
I have changed the ip in the firmware and it's ok (hex editor for romfs + md5sum for layout.txt)

My firmware uses different NTP server - well known and well working NTP service in Poland. So if you want to have good clock use my firmware. Unfortunately timezone in my FW is hardly changable - sorry but I use clock program developed by AaronL and he never released sources for it and I've no contact with him in this problem

I will mail him to see if we can get the source code.
Dunno if he will give it but we can always try
Did he not release it on gooddvdstuff?
I thought he did.

ok, i prefer the original ntp kiss clock (with little digit) - my firmware use my ntp server and my server use the french ntp server chronos.cru.fr
Big : your firmware use more than one server ?

Been the happy owner of a DP500 for a while, but i am a noob when it comes to programming. How do i do about the clock, you guys are talking about hex and modifying firmware, is it that easy? Will the server be back on??

My firmware uses one server but different and known to work reliably (it's used widely in Poland).
Anyway if you want midified FW with small clock use ET firmware. But I don't remember if he has changed NTP server in his FW.

hello,
for all people who have this problem and don't want to (or don't have time to) burn/install another firmware.
open a dos command
ping ntp.internet-fr.net (choose another ntp server if you want: search with google: ntp server)
Réponse de 212.37.192.31*: octets=32 temps=45 ms TTL=57
(sorry i'm a french user)
ok now we have the IP of the ntp server
telnet 192.168.3.21 (IP of the KiSS Player)
/ # ntpdate 212.37.192.31
20 Jul 22:33:41 ntpdate[21]: step time server 212.37.192.31 offset 1090362765.05
5681 sec
/ #
Ok now my KiSS Player have time.
PS: redo ntpdate command when you turn off/turn on the KiSS Player
