Default DP-150x PSU specs

Hello all,

I've been a long time lurker, and even posted in the old version of the forums. Great resource.

It seems that my trusty 1500 has given up on me. It can't complete boot, and I opened it and found that the power supply unit is busted. Does anybody know if I can find some schematics of it online? It looks like I have to replace the main capacitor (the 400V one) and something that looks like a fuse and it's labelled "B1". Does anybody know what it is (and its specs)? The job looks easy enough, but if anybody has any sound advice, including some other compatible PSU I can use, I'm all ears.

Apart from this the main board does not show any signs of busted contacts. I'm sort of hoping that this DIY job works, as these connected players cost the moon and the stars down here.

Cheers!

Here it goes:
Type: AM537B REV:A
+D5V = 1.5A (max.)
+A5V = 0.5A (max.)
+S12V = 0.5A (max.)
+A9V = 0.2A (max.)
-A9V = 0.2A (max.)
-33V = 0.2A (max.)

This capacitor was actually one of the parts that shorted on my board. Thanks for the link.

in 95% of all problems the fix will be to replace 3 caps (see the link in the wiki)
Do you think, or are you sure that this will not be the case for your problem

if you have the parts then please first replace the suggested caps
(i dont think that the big cap is broken)

There's dielectric material surrounding the main capacitor, so I've assumed it had busted. About the other three I'll have to use a multimeter and see if there's something else not working. The symptoms I have are the same, though (just the KISS DVD in the front display).

i think its glue and not other material
i advise to replace the 3 caps
mesure will take more time then replace and you will have a working psu for 95% sure

you can also take some hi-res pics and post them

Hi,
I have a dead DP-1500. All symptoms point to the PSU.

The PSU info is:

ACHME AM537B REV:A 2003/04/30

The sticker on the yellow thingie says REV:B 0413

Info on main capacitor is:

DC output
+D5V : 1.5A
+A5V : 0.5A
+S12V: 0.5A
+A9V : 0.2A
-A9V : 0.2A
-33V : 0.2A

I have been reading in the Wiki but all info is on the 558 so can anyone explain which are the 3 most commonly broken capacitors on the 1500 PSU??

I have located the 2200 μF 10V Capacitor on C11 and the 1000 μF 10V Capacitor on C12 but which is the third one?? the Wiki speaks of a 1000 μF 16V capacitor, and that i just cannot find.

Please help.

Default fried am537b

Hi,
My am537b is dead too. I'm going out to buy new caps later today. Did it work for you mr_furious?

Anyway I've another couple of doubts and maybe you can suggest something?

One is that this supply has started to also make quite a bit of noise, like "bzzzz". I cannot identify what's the part that is making noise (there don't seem to be anything that actually moves), maybe it is something inside the big AM522B-T1? Well, maybe replacing the caps solves this too...

Then there is the small black cylinder marked as B1 with a wire (and maybe something more which I cannot see) passing through it. It's very close to the larger heat dissipator (both on the am537b and the am522/am561). What is it? Mine was apparenlty glued to the dissipator but now the glue is gone and the cylinder can move slightly along the write. Is this important?

No it did not work. I changed a bunch of caps, but i dont think any of them were actually broken. All i managed to do was to make the lights in my appartment flicker in an unpleasant way every time i plug the kiss in.

I have decided that the Kiss dp-1500 is dead and i invested in a Tvix M-6500 instead.
