Default Blu Ray and HD DVD Rips From External Hard Drive?

Has anyone tried playing their VC-1 and/or AVC encoded blu ray and/or HD DVD rips from an external hard drive? I didn't get around to trying this weekend. I know that MPEG2 plays fine from an external hard drive, but what about VC-1 and AVC?

It should be supported as well and have better performance than internal
HDD. Must try before knowing that. me haven't tried yet either as there's a
FW war going on (9 releases in 23 weeks)

I can now confirm that VC-1 HD DVD rips work from external USB hard drives. I played the 1080p HD DVD rip of Knocked Up, and also played the 1080p blu ray rip of Van Wilder (which is AVC MPEG4) from the external drive. I only played Van Wilder for about 5 minutes, but this certainly is encouraging.

We consider HD playback somewhat completed now except a few stand
alone bugs (things that happen on signle files) and we now advice DViCo
to add subtitles embedded in mkv...

That, ISO and AVI fixes to make things run stable again as in previous
firmwares beside the HD playback will make us consider the product is
complete. (Can't get much better than that...)

Enjoy

I see you play HD DVD rips and Bluerayrips directly from HDD?

Tvix only plays m2ts Blueray files right? that i got to work now for me!

But HD DVD? wich format? i think Tvix cant play EVO Files??

I always Demuxed Evo to Video and Audio and muxed it into MKV or AVI container to watch HD DVD on Tvix?`

Is it possible to watch HD DVD rip Directly?

And another question which file on the HD DVD or Blueray i have to start to have menu ? or is it only possible to play the main movie?

thx for your answers

very good forum here!

You're correct, .evo files won't play directly. You have to put them in an .M2TS, MKV or AVI container first. Or, the other option is to have your audio on a cd and the video on the Tvix, and that is a pain in the ass. I just wanted to see if the HD DVD rip (when put into an .m2ts container) would play from an external drive attached to the Tvix-I used TSremux to put the .evo file into an .m2ts container.

thx for your answers
