Default Power Supply Broken

The power supply on my Istar seems to have broken. The light on the supply doesn't come on when plugged in and I've tried a couple mains leads into the PSU. I'm in the UK so the make is a FSP060-1AD101C.

I'm not sure I can be bothered to wait for a replacement to be sent so I'm after buying a new one myself. Am I right in thinking any 12v 5A DC PSU will do the job? Perhaps something like this?

Also, what size plug is it in the back of the istar? I assume either a 2.1mm or 2.5.

Thanks for any help.

That is correct, i tried several different PSU, and they all worked perfectly.

The one on Ebay is OK.

Thanks for your help, I've gone ahead and ordered that one, hopefully it'll work fine, I'm missing watching HD stuff already!

The new power supply arrived today and works just fine, in case anyone finds themselves in the same situation.

I don't know, are all Europeans so well-off and don't mind spending $32 for an AC/DC converter that they could have gotten from the manufacturer for free since it was defected? For $35 I got my Philips Divx/Xvid player from Amazon two years ago, shipping included & tax-free, and I am still using that player on a daily basis since.

High-C it just we know the risks from buying from abroad , but real reason is postage costs back to manufacturers normally work out almost as much as just replacing smallish value items.

I see, so the manufacturer is paying for the purchasing, that makes sense now.

Well, I'd have probably had to return it, then wait for a new one to arrive from the US, which would take a week or two at best. At least this way I'm up and running again in 2 days.

If lymzy wants to help towards the cost of the replacement I'd have no complaints!

My PSU of same make also broke down last night. After about 1,5 weeks of use.

I emailed Istar, but didn't get any reply yet.
I wonder if this is a common problem...

Went thru my closets and found one 12V that works, it's only 1A though... but seems to work fine... but I guess I better not hook up any SATA drive or USB devices if I use this

Hi ode,

1. We are sorry to hear that, our people will check your mail and contact you for replacement asap.

I can guarantee that Istar Mini's PSU is with really good quality-- it's 5A and its defective rate is under 1 in 1000.

2. For replaced PSU please choose at least 3A above, otherwise not even cannot hook up HDD or USB devices, but may also destroy the mother board.

Thank you.
