Cant get 409Pro to work NFS with my Popcorn NMT :(
409Pro firmware revision "Version 2.1.0 build 0624T"
Followed these instructions:
http://www.qnap.com/pro_features_NFS.asp and these:
http://www.mpcclub.com/modules/Club_...e_tvix_nmt.pdf
Yet all I get is "No Content found"
I think I have everything set correctly on the 409Pro, ...
NFS ON, JUMBO Frames Disabled, Access Control, ... etc ... all look to be correct.
I am connecting thru an unmanaged Linksys SD2008 GB switch, but also used an old 10/100 switch I had, to no avail either.
As you can see from the photos, everything on the PCH looks good too, ... the SMB share works fine,... and I can browse over to the NAS to find the folder I want, ...
then I change the SMB link to the NFS link (add nfs, :, /) see photos
yet still no go ... When I try to select the NFS link, the PCH delays for 25 secs....
I also tried putting in just the ip address also, ... no Bueno!
any help would greatly be appreciated ...
... followed the directions given in the 2 docs ...
which said , go to "Network Share" on the PCH, ... then BROWSE, (as you would normally for an SMB connection) over to the NAS box to the folder you want , .... then, .... BEFORE you click add.... change the URL entry as follows...
Originally:
smb://TC-FILE-SERVER/Video
for NFS, change to:
nfs://TC-FILE-SERVER:/Video/
Pullin my hair out in Louisville!

For now, you might have to stick with the SMB options. NFS has issues so it seems with some players (is an issue with the QNAP server). What you might try though is creating a username on the NAS with access to the folders and then enter the path on the player with the user / pass created.
SMB is sufficient for streaming with most formats, including 1080p> Only in few cases it is still better and prefered... We'll be in touch with QNAP once more to look at this.
Regards

Well, I found out one more item:
I need to put the "share" folder in there since I created those other main folders... ie
nfs://TC-FILE_SERVER:/Video2/ should be ...
nfs://TC-FILE_SERVER:/share/Video2/
BUT, .... now it's intermittant .... right after a fresh boot on the pCH, someimes I can access the folders on teh QNAP 3 or 4 times, ... then, all of a sudden I get a "No Content Found" error.
I also checked the logs on teh QNAP and everythign looks good ver there.
I'll try the user/pass thing and see what happens.
thanks fort he reply!

Allen,
I have the same setup as you, A-100 and the TS-409 Pro, I’m also using your templates.
Great work by the way!
My 409 is set up with a static IP, with an nfs share named “Video”.
I’m at work right now so I can’t verify but I believe my Popcorn share is as follows:
nfs-tcp://192.168.0.xxx:/Video
I don’t remember where I read about nfs-tcp designator, but mine works great.
I’ll check it when I get home and verify.

Thank you! (the templates! ... I just added export links for actors btw)
Man, that would be great if you would check your settings when you get home and LMK.
I'm dying a slow death here now
thanks

Here's what I've found that 'seems' to work...

change nfs to nfs-tcp
Use Server name iunstead of IPAddress, and then IF the folder is a QNAP system folder, like Qmultimedia, then you add nothing more, . but if it's a folder "you" added, .. then you have to add the "share/"
So if you would check this out tonight, I sure would appreciate it.
I also wonder what nfs VS nfs-tcp does, .... speed-wise.
thanks
Allen

Allen,
I was correct, my Popcorn share was setup as:
nfs-tcp://192.168.0.xx:/Video
With “Video” being the name of the network share I created and set up nfs access control on.
I am also able to access the share utilizing the server name:
Nfs-tcp://ServerName:/Video
The funny thing was with your Version 3 templates, I was not able to get the references to my video files setup properly from your examples or what others had tried at networkedmediatank. I had to set “absolutelinks” to true and reference all of my video files in movie collector to “../Video/MovieName.mkv”
Of course, Video is a subdirectory under the “Video” share where my movies are saved.
It worked so I haven’t messed with it since, when you get yours set up, let me know how you configured your variables.

Guys, many thanks for this.
I was also having problems connecting to my QNAP 409 from an iStarHD box.
Adding the -tcp string seems to have done the trick, can now reliably browse to shares via NFS.
Cheers

Guys:
keep in mind that with NFS you could do it like this (at least with my QNAP TS509)
- setup shares via portal
- login to the system
- type exportfs -v
and youl see output like this
# exportfs -v
/share/MD0_DATA/Qmultimedia
192.168.23.0/255.255.255.0(rw,async,wdelay,no_root_squash,anonu id=65534,anongid=65534)
/share/MD0_DATA/Qdownload
192.168.23.0/255.255.255.0(rw,async,wdelay,no_root_squash,anonu id=65534,anongid=65534)
/share/MD0_DATA/Public
192.168.23.0/255.255.255.0(rw,async,wdelay,no_root_squash,anonu id=65534,anongid=65534)
the path you should use to mount the FS is /share/MD0_DATA/Qdownload
if you use path followed by simlinks like /Qmultimedia (which is a symlink to /share/MD0_DATA/Qmultimedia) whould be like yoda would say 'this path leads to suffering'
