FW 1.3.53 6500 hdmi stability issue
Hi all
This firmware resolves the 24fps shift problem nice!
But the stability of the hdmi driver @1080p is problematic, yet apart from hi-Jacks post of a couple of months ago mentioning hdmi driver stability in general no real fuss is made.
I would like to petition this as the number one issue for usability and stability for my 6500.
Comments welcome.

Thanks you for being interested and inquiring FastM.
This issue is highlighted over in
- HDMI Signal Loss issues (Sigma SDK HDMI Driver) as listed in the "fix this first" posting.
But I guess that's rather cloaked in tech speak. If want to see how it effect's your player and display try this, use your remote control to cycle through the display output resolutions when viewing a movie (The button in question is labeled "TV Out" lower left corner on remote control) , only 480p and 576p (standard definitions) are controlled with the remote control directly. The hdmi driver that should control the hi-definition display output resolutions cannot be altered from the remote efficiently so no 720p 1080i or 1080p output, go into menu setup to alter these resolutions.
This lack of functionality can IMHO be linked to under developed software, presenting itself as daily driver collapse when viewing material at 1080p. This is both annoying and unforgivable and somewhat difficult to replicate. However this feature is a corner stone of the devices proposed and advertised functionality. (In Divco's defence not so long ago pressing that button caused the unit to reboot so some improvement there.)
I know there are other issues relating to codec support, sound formats, subtitles, slide show, et al heck many people want new features added but all those mean less to me because the device is billed as hi-definition. Yet I see no improvement in the stability of this critical issue after many (how may?) firmware upgrades.
Again comment is welcome (don't be afraid) and thanks again FastM for your query.

I'm not sure I follow you; are your problem the fact that you cannot switch to hdmi 1080p directly from the remote, or the fact that you are experiencing some kind of issues using hdmi 1080p. "Daily driver collapse" What is that, in more detail?
I have used 1080p hdmi since I got the unit (was it february?), and I have never seen any issue with the hdmi. This does not mean that there are none, of course. (I never change the resolution)

Hello Vespaman and thank you for your interest.
To answer your query, the two issues (1.hdmi driver crash @ 1080p 2. remote resolution change) are related in my opinion, the fact you cannot alter the resolution from the remote is annoying but not terrible but also points to a deeper issue which is a frequent/daily loss of image when viewing a movie that is far more disapointing.
You are lucky that you do not see this video @1080p crash issue as critical yet it is listed as number#1 in the "fix this first tread" so I know I'm not alone in seeing this at a major issue (The loss of the image@1080p is the result of the problem). But I see no "resolution" (ahem) in sight.
Thank you Vespaman for your inquiring and thoughtful question I hope I answered it to you satisfaction.

OK, I see. Maybe it is related to 24p, which I don't (can't) use. I certainly can understand that this is a huge issue when it occurs!

If I understand this correctly, you mention that you loss connection (handshake?) via HDMI during watching a movie, something I can confirm. I have the same but have accepted this for the time being. Although pretty annoying, it only last about 1 second and in my situation (FW 1.2.52) it occurs once or twice during the full length of the movie. I do agree, if this flaw is caused by FW then something should be done about this as the price paid warrents for a flawless use of the unit for the advertised features.

Sony KDL-46XBR5 HDMI 1.3, Sony cable HDMI 1.3, Tvix M-6500/7010A HDMI 1.3 . From Fw 1.1.21 to 1.3.52 never have HDMI stability issue! (Neither play 1080p or 1080/24p full lenght movies for hours)

Are you guys with problems using long cables (did you try exchanging the hdmi cables?)?
I only run my hdmi out cable 50cm before it enters the Onkyo 905 receiver.

My connection is through a HDMI switchbox to the tv and therefore in 2 pieces of cable (both being around 1.5 meters). I have not checked to connect the Tvix to the tv directly (my amplifier hasn't got HDMI), which might solve the problem indeed. Happy to hear stories from others if they experience "loss of signal" via HDMI issues.
