LAN Speed M-5100SH
Hi,
I just bought a new TVIX 5100 with a 500GB internal disc.
I saw in the Knowledgebase, that 30-40 Mbit are possible via LAN.
My problem is that I have only 6Mbit via ftp/smb. Is this speed normal for that interfaces?
Is the transfer speed with NFS Shares 30-40 Mbit? (I have problem with NFS at the moment).
What ist the transfer rate via the USB Host connector?
thank you in advance.

You saw in the knowledge base that files of up to 40000 Mbps can be streamed, not that the unit can handle 40 Mbit/s in transfer rate. That would be 5 - 6 like you already mentioned...

Hi again,
just to verify the statments.
It is okay that a 9GB ISO file transfered via LAN/ftp takes about 3 hours to completed. right?
If true, I have to think about a USB to LAN Adapter... 22MB/s is acceptable...

Yes itīs true. TViX is VERY slow on LAN.
Use USB 2.0 ports.
A DVD movie 4,5 GB takes about 3-5 minutes to tranfer from my laptop to my TViX.

If you don't want/can move your TViX as "middle" solution is to store your files on an USB drive and then connect that to your TViX. Either to play directly from it, or for using the Copy command in the TViX to copy the files. Slower than connecting TViX as an external drive, but faster than LAN.
