Default DP-558 loses channel settings after power off

Three times I've set up all my channels and configured EPG ID. After even a brief power off (approx. 10 sec) the channels are all gone. EPG favorites are still there though.

Anyone? I haven't seen anybody describe this before.

Regards,
Biehe

Hi Biehe,

This happens if somehow the player can't access the disk part where the
channellist.ch file is stored as far as i know. Did you flash the player
correctly with the 1.0.5 firmware according to this procedure?

First READ THIS then EXECUTE

- Power on the player
- Press EJECT followed by RETURN and 6 - 7 - 8
WAIT FOR 1 MINUTE AFTER THIS
(You don't see anything happening on screen so don't worry)

Now, insert the FW disc with 1.0.5 firmware, close the tray, power off by
power button and wait 20 seconds, then start the player. It will boot from
the FW disc.

Choose FULL UPDATE and go through the QUICK setup afterwards,
INCLUDING FORMAT HDD and RESCAN all channels.

Now it should work.

Regards

Hi,

Could you please add the TV tuner problem to the bug list as well?

I've had the player for a couple of days now and the bad quality of the TV tuner output was noticable but not that annoying on my previous TV.

Now that I bought a new 32'' widescreen I can say that the difference is PHENOMENAL!!! Comparing the same channel from my TV with the DP-558 there is a big difference! Erasing all channels and automatically re-programming them doesn't help a bit.

Someone posted the remark before (don't remember who) saying that one of the main reasons he bought the device was because of the built in TV tuner.

Well, same here actually. It IS a nice device with a lot more features packed than any other machine out there on the market today. Nevertheless this does NOT mean that we have to accept the fact that one of those featurea is to be of sucky performance. Manual finetuning is also a MUST (especially in this case looking at the poor auto-tuning performance)

In other words: please put this "bug" on the list and rate it with a proper priority...

from the following thread, it seems that the NIC in the 558 may have problems negotiating network speeds, at least with some switches. Then again I suppose that could be called a bug in the switches concerned....!

what do the experts think?

Default Some strange things during mp3-copying

I tried to copy some mp3 from my pc to my dp-558 using KISS-PC-Link

1.) I marked a mp3 from the list (of files on my pc-hdd)
2.) I pressed 'play' on the remote -> a progress bar shows the %

Why does the dp-558 tries to play and copy that song at the same time? The quality of the sound is not very good

Even stranger:

3.) I marked a mp3 from the list (of files on the kiss-hdd)
4.) I pressed 'play' on the remote -> dp-558 tries to copy the mp3

Where should this file be copied to??? It is already on the target hdd.
What's the meaning of this function?

Default id3-tag-information from mp3?

I asked already on http://www.mpcclub.com/modules.php?n...ewtopic&t=2157.

Is this a bug? I can't get any id3-tag-information from my mp3.
I tried to show it from mp3 on pc-hdd or kiss-hdd - no difference.

Hi morgmel,

It's a long long story.
Usually if you set the NIC's of switch and pc to 100 full/half duplex, you increase transfer speed and stability. All other settings cause unstability.

One of the things listed that should be looked at.

Default Internet radio no connect and dropouts

Right now i sit with my laptop listening to smoothjazz.com via shoutcast. Smooth with no dropouts. This is not possible with the 558 at the moment. (last 3 hours) I can switch between menus and so, but the kiss can not connect to the station. The laptop is connected to the same switch as the 558.

I think also that there are much more dropouts on the kiss radioplayer than on my pc's.

Wheater and other onlinethings are ok, but the radio has not be able to connect the last hours.
