Advice Needed on Networking and BT functions - Please
I bought a HDX-1000 yesterday. In terms of video performance, it is quite good.
However, I have one complaint. There is no manual or other literature included in the box. For the normal set up, I can barely manage.
However, as I am not very good at computer, I do need a step-by-step manual to guide me through the more advanced functions such as network sharing and bit torrent. I have searched the HDX website but with no luck. Can anyone please advise me how to find out such information.
As a note of self declaration, I do not know much about what "FTP", "PnP", "SMB" and "NFS" are. So far, I only manage to set up "Myihome" so that I can stream video from my computer to the HDX unit. I am still struggling as how to use the unit for bt downloading. In particular, I would like to know how can I transfer the bt seed to the HDX for downloading.
Thanks for your guidance in advance.

Higo a good start using the HDX resource available on their website:
http://www.hdx1080.com/index.php?opt...141&Itemid=137
They have a good Wiki explaining a lot of stuff but still feel free to ask questions if dont find your answers there.

According to manufacturer's website, a user guide should be included.
I suggest you contact vendor.

Dear elRadix and coolstream,
Thanks very much for your replies.
I managed to connect my laptop computer to the SMB Server. In the Torrent Section. I tried to transfer a bit torrent seed to the HDV unit with the hope that the HDV unit can do the bt downloading internally (i.e. without the need to turn on my laptop computer). However, it appears that the seed is not accepted by the HDV.
I browsed through the net and people talks about "Transmission" and "Clutch". Could anyone please explain to me what are these? Am I supposed to install some other programs in my laptop before I can transfer the seed to the HDV unit?
Many thanks in advance.

Hi Higo,
Transmission and clutch are the same clients. You can access clutch from your web browser (since clutch is not compatible with Internet Explorer, you need to install firefox browser to your computer to enter the adress) http://IP-OF-YOUR-NMT:8077 the user and pass was I think nmt/1234 or 12345, I am using clutch for 3 weeks and it is working quite well. Feel free to ask any questions...
PS: My advice is to assign a statik IP to your HDX from the setup menu.

Hi djaytek,
Thanks very much for your prompt response.
I finally manage to transfer the bt seed to the HDV unit for downloading. However, the downloading speed of HDV is very disappointing. For the same bt seed, the downloading speeds are as follows:-
1. HDV = 1kb/s and it is already through a wired cable connected to the router; and
2. Through my laptop using BitComet = 800 kb/s and it is through the wireless.
I hope this is an isolated case and I have yet to perform experiments on other seeds. Otherwise, this makes the bt function of the HDV unit totally useless. It may be better off to first download the file to the laptop and stream the data through the wireless router to the HDV unit afterwards.
Please share your experience in using the bt function of the HDV unit.

Hi Higo,
Which client are you using? The defauld BT client or transmission/clutch client? As I know, the default client is not very succesfull with private trackers, I am only using the alternative client which I told you at the above message (transmission/clutch). My internet connection is 1Mbit and the client uses nearly full bandwidth. (download speed is 110k/s)
There are some points you have to pay attention:
1. You have to manually assign an IP to your HDX [not HDV by the way ]
2. You have to open port 51413 from your router (if you are behind a router)
3. There is a speed limit property in the left bottom page of the client (you can set up/down speeds, also ports and download directory)

Dear diaytek,
As I am not a technical person, I do not understand your question:-
"Which client are you using? The defauld BT client or transmission/clutch client?"
Allow my ignorance, what is a client?

Dear Higo,
Client means "software"
HDX includes two different softwares inside for bittorrent downloads. You can choose either one, both has different menus and different features.
The first one's name is BPTD and you can access it like the example shown below:
http://IP-OF-YOUR-HDX:8883/torrent/bt.cgi
The second one's name is transmission/clutch and you can access this one from:
http://IP-OF-YOUR-HDX:8077
Example:
http://192.168.1.150:8077
I am using the second one, and it works for me quite well.
Now we have the 3 steps in my previous post? did you understand them and make the necessary configurations? or not? If now, I will help you about them.

Dear diaytek,
I now manage to figure out what a client is. Following your instruction, I typed http://192.168.x.x:8077 and am now in the Clutch page. However, the download rate is still very slow (15K/s) as compare to using my laptop (48k/s). Is this normal?
By the way, can you show me how to open port 51413.
