Default How I silenced my DiskStation 207+

I got a DS207+, and the fan noise is too loud I think.

I got the idea for doing this in this Wiki http://www.synology.com/wiki/index.p...Station_207%2B

I'm using 2 WD RE2-GP WD1000FYPS in RAID, and I have replaced the fan with a NQ-3700, Silent Tornado 60 mm 1300 - 1800RP.. It's not as wide as the original fan, but so what. I didn't use the included rpm atapter to reduce rpm further. The temperature of the disk's is never above 41 degrees C.

I removed the 3 pin socket on the print/mainboard and the socket on the NQ fits on the remaing pins.

NOW I'm happy with the noise level Very Happy

I also made the venthole in the bottom of the DS207+ bigger, removing every second "pin" to increase the airflow throug the DS207+ (well I hope so)

Nicely done.... I still have two papst 612f/2l fans laying here for replacing the original fan of the Synology (it's in a cupboard, so I don't hear the noice to much... and therefore didn't mod my 207+ yet...
