the permissions is your exports file, just change the export line from ro to rw. Your lines should look something like this :
/mnt/export 192.168.40.50(ro,no_root_squash,no_subtree_check)
change it to this to allow deletion from the player :
/mnt/export 192.168.40.50(rw,no_root_squash,no_subtree_check)
HTH
Nothing much that I know of to take care of those .DS_Store files from showing up though, sorry

.DS_store files can be switche off with TinkerTool ( http://www.bresink.de/osx/TinkerTool.html)
and file deletion is a permissions thing (I use it all the time)

At some point my prime after waiking up from stand by lost gigabit conection.
Nothing (including powercycling) helped - only when I set it to 100T , connected cable to 100T and then switched back to gigabit and gigabit port it started to work - weried ...

Every once in a while it will show our NAS as being (empty), when I know all is well. Occassionally rebooting the Dune will help. It seems that it will cache networked info and that cache will get corrupted (completely speculating here). It usually happens when I am goofing around with the config on the NAS (like the Dune tries to remember a different "state").
But it doesn't happen that often (especially when I just leave the configs alone and "run it normally"). And aside from that one time where the Gbit NIC downgraded itself to 100T, it has been pretty solid.

turns out that I'd already disabled the creation of .DS_Store over the network a couple of years ago but hadn't ever deleted the files that were still in existance.
I also invested in blueharvest which stops the creation of these files on local storage as well so it won't show up if I'm using a memory stick.

LK: had that several times (but I'm throwing every test file I have at the player and some files corrupt the player -- so my thought was that it was my own fault...)
I've also noticed that the time it takes the Gbit module a very LONG time to do the whole DHCP cycle... while the 100Mbit connection is a lot quicker....

I have ours set to static, so at least we don't have that additional delay/issue to deal with

Hi,
i received my Dune Prime on Wednesday and playing around with it since then.
I ordered it with the GB-option, although i donīt understand why itīs neccessary, 100MBit should be enough even to play HD-content.
My Dune is now connected to a GB-switch, while my desktop pc in my home office is still connected with 100MBit (historical reasons, you know...).
I did some quick tests exporting my BRs from the desktop pc and viola, most of them stuttered.
Then i did a trial install of an NFS server on the machine, exported the drive with NFS and viola - no stutter!
As i said, the desktop is connected via 100MBit/s.
So it seems to me the SMB implementation on the Dune is not optimal - my in my opinion, it should work with SMB as well.
I have installed the latest FW dated 12/26.
Any comments?
