Default TViX M-6500a BOOT problem.

Hi everyone,

I've posted this before elsewhere but have not found a solution yet.

I have M-6500a with latest firmware 1.3.74 (1.3.59 and 1.2.52 before that) and the problem has been present on all. I connect through HDMI, have wired and wireless network, internal HDD. It used to work fine, but after we moved to another apartment it started to have the problem.

The problem: When I turn on the box it blinks the shiny disk for a bit and then says "BOOT"... and it remains so. It does not change to "Loading". No matter how much time passes it remains on "BOOT". I tried turning it on with various combinations of plugged in things (no wired net, no wireless, no both, no usb flash, HDMI unplugged, TV off/on, etc...) and there is no pattern that I can notice when it turns on, for after playing like that on/off with it for 10-15 minutes sometimes it boots and works fine. Then after I am done with it I turn it off normally and the next time same story. Often I just give up and not use it. Did anyone ever have this problem? Anyone knows how to fix it? Any suggestions or thoughts in the right direction? Because I have tried everything I could think of and am almost ready to return it.

UPDATE: Now it is always get stuck on "BOOT". I have not been able to get it going at all.

any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi alexscq,

I am no expert...since I have only had mine for about 3 weeks...but have you tried resetting to factory defaults? There was a post on here on how to do that.

read this thread: http://www.mpcclub.com/modules.php?n...y+reset#149202

I believe this guy had the same problem as you and got it fixed.

Let us know if it worked for you...please post back in this thread.

Good luck,

Haze

thanks for the link BigHAZE,

It sound like what I am having, but...

I have been able to upgrade my firmware from USB stick easily, no problems there. I've tried to do a hard/factory reset but was unable to. At which point do I press and hold? Before bootup, during or after (can't boot remember).

Will try again today when I get home.

Thanks

So I tried to do a factory reset and was unable to do so. I am holding the Setup and Stop buttons during boot and nothing happens. Still gets stuck on BOOT. Am I doing it incorrectly?

Any other ideas? Maybe theres a button like on routers to do a hard reset?
