problems updating firmware
Hello,
today Ireceived my bd prime and tried to update to the new official firmware using an usb stick. Trying that I got the following message:
Error: Failure! Try repeating upgrade after reboot
I switched the mains off, but the result was the same, tried another usb-stick and another usb port.
Could anyone help me ?

Hi,
strange - i did exactly the same today: received my new Prime and did the FW update.
If i recall correctly, somebody recommended to use one of the USB-Port at the back of the box, not the one at the front. Thatīs what i did and everything went OK.

Thank you Hocky,
Iīm afraid itīs a kind of hardware problem. The reading test from the usb stick is successfull, but no way to upgrade the firmware.

There are more and more people running into this problem and HDi is already investigating this...
I hope DKV (HDi representative here on the forum) comes with a solution soon...
BUT do not get your hopes up to high as the CES is ongoing and I believe he is there...
CES is from 8 - 11 Jan...

I also used one from the backside and the update went fine.

When the FW upgrade procedure has corrupted the NVRAM and de FW is corrupt no port (used side, back, and net update) works...
so keep your fingers crossed for the next update...

For everybody having problems with upgrade:
If you get the error "Failure! try repeating upgrade after
reboot...", please do the following:
1. Right after the error, return back to the file browser.
2. Go into any writable folder (e.g. on USB Flash disk) in the file browser and press the remote button "A" three times). So called "debug dump" file will be generated.
3. Post here a link to the generated dump file (you can upload the file to e.g. rapidshare.com) (or send me a PM).
