The new firmware release with new features is coming soon. Maybe the end of this week, or next week. Anyway we'll try to release it asap (as soon as the current code base is more-or-less stabilized).
There were a lot of rather massive changes in the code recently (not all of them are directly visible, but still affect many things internally), so maybe the new release will have "beta" status (to indicate that not everything may work correctly and some things may be broken). In such a case, we'll also try to provide the non-beta release asap after that.
Regarding what changes are coming in the new release, below is some information (sorry, can not provide more detailed information and list absolutely every feature/bugfix implemented or being worked on).
The most important/biggest features that have good chances to be included into the new release are a new photo viewer application (with slideshows, transitions, images preloading, fast startup, etc) and Audio CD playback support (the first implementation will be rather basic and could be improved later).
Besides, the new release will include a number of bugfixes and various small features/improvements. The bugfixes will include, in particular, fixes for the following problems discussed in the forum: impossibility to play some DVD titles, problems with playback of some Blu-ray titles, missing multichannel analog output on some Bluray titles, problems with firmware upgrade, problems with dissapearing icon for web browser, problems with DHCP when using Wi-Fi or Gigabit Ethernet.
The exact list of changes implemented and included into the new firmware release will be published together with the release; please be patient and wait for the release.
The following features from the top of the list are also being worked on and have a very big priority for us at the moment, but most probably will not be included into the next release (these are rather big features, and there is still a lot of work to do and problems to solve):
- Faster playback start/stop
- Setup option to automatically adjust video output framerate/resolution
- Remember last playback position for files, Bluray disks and backups
- NTFS write support
We also plan to react to the recent changes in the voting results and give more focus to all other features at the top of the list.
Hope the above helps.
P.S. HDCenter and BDPrime have basically the same fw (the only difference is a specific support for internal HDD in HDCenter), and fw releases will be simultaneous for these models and include the same set of changes. The latest shipped HDCenters and BDPrimes have exactly the same fw version - 081226_1216 (this is the latest official non-beta version available).
