New firmware update from Ellion (supposedly) available
There is an announcement from Ellion about a new release for HMR-700 and HMR-350 with the following improvements:
- MAC OS NDAS
- NTSC TV HDMI
- MOVIE PREVIEW On/Off
- POWER OFF while NDAS connecting
Unfortunately, the only file available for downloading is the one related to HMR-350 (A325HP_S1001_090309a.zip)

They anounced it in the news. but the download link for HMR-700A doesn't work.
The file name is missing, while it is there for 350H.
You can notice that when you move the mouse over the download link.
I don't know if it's a mistake or it's intentional.
Maybe they're fixing something and we have to wait.

@all
Ellion keeps surprising us with new firmwares.
Have had the March 9 firmware for a week on the HMR350. Couldn't test the HDMI & Mac improvements, but probably people have been waiting for this. When switching off the preview window, browsing through media will be quicker, however a suggestion to Ellion support is to use the screen in that case to display longer titles (why display an empty box).
Wasn't able to test the NDAS improvement yet, but it probably prevent the Ellion from not powering off which sometimes occurred.
Today a new fw has been made available for both HMR350 and 700. Although there is a difference in size compared to the previous fw I couldn't find any differences.
Unfortunately the music bug introduced in 2008 (when browsing to another folder playback stops) is still there, however I'm very glad that Ellion is still improving its product. It's growing into a mature product.
Support, when you are reading this, my top 5 for the next firmware:
1. browsing to another folder: music doesn't stop! (like in older firmwares)
2. numeric keys on remote control: jump to other songs, videos (like in older firmwares)
3. internet radio (like in other media players using the same chipset)
4. album art for MP3
5. when no preview window: show longer titles (more characters)
(Support, when you implement 3 of them I'll advise my sisters to buy an Ellion!)
regards,
daL

Just upgraded.
The movie preview was disabled by default and the navigation between files is faster in this way.
I was able to successfully shut down the Ellion after mounting the hd through NDAS (without unmount) without hanging.
I tried only a couple of times though.
I hope this problem has been fixed (as it seems) and I hope it's the same problem that causes the invisible-files-after-copy-until-reboot issue, so it'll be fixed too.
I'll check it tomorrow.

Another two issues:
1) the main menu projected on HDMI is shifted many lines up on top, so for instance when you are on setup you can't see exactly which parameter window are you using.
2) on composite video there are no colors and a strong interference is added to the image, like my TV did not recognized which system are output from Ellion.
Oh well, what to expect from a prototype...

I don't have these problems.
I tested it for about an hour after upgrading and I think I'd notice them.
1) The menu wasn't shifted in both HDMI and Component and was the same that previous firmware.
I tried both 1080i @ 50Hz and 1080i @ 60Hz with the same result.
2) I used it in Composite after the upgrading phase until I set the Component out: the colors were there and there was no interference.
Did you try to reboot through the back switch?
