Hi, and welcome

To show thumbnails you need to be using the latest beta FW.

Once you have this installed, create an empty file in the folder you want to have thumbnails displayed.
You must name the file (type the name EXACTLY as I show)

thumbnail.tvix

When the thumbnails are displayed, you will see that there are new keys to use to play or create a slideshow. In the setup menu, you can select to either have fade switched on or off.

Hope this helps!

I am currently using the oficial 1.3.74 FW. Given your answer this function does not work with this one.

when you mention the latest beta FW, you mean the 1.3.95 (beta) or the 1.3.110 (beta)?

are these recommended?

Thanks!

Yes. It's finally arrived in the newest betas.
1.3.95 (beta) is the equivalent of 1.3.74, and 1.3.110 is almost the same but also has BD playback ability (i.e. Bluray folders). Both will play Bluray rips.

It's your choice whether you try them or not. Rest assured, if you find problems, you can always go back to the old version you already have.

Being betas, the newer functions don't always work, that's why they're betas for testing.

If thumbnails is important for you, then at present, beta is the only way to go

coolstream thanks a lot for your fast and precise answers. Love this forum!

Aditional question: What software do you use to rip Blurays? I've got a couple of them and donīt know how to send them to my TViX.

Thanks a lot! love the backgrounds and icons posted in the forum as well!

No point in re-inventing the wheel, so here's a heap of links for you

Default Am I dumb??? Want to see actual thumbnails of my photos!

Hi,

I will freely admit that despite having had a DivX for the last 10 months I remain a bit lost by all the debate and it's complexities. I love the product and have very few problems with it but that is probably because I just don't push it at all...

I have just installed what I think is the latest firmware 1.3.137. I was really interested by the ability to show thumbnails of photos; having thousands stored on my box. I have used the function mode to Thumbnail mode, but all my .jpg's just come up as images of files rather than thumbnails of the files. Am I missing the point entirely? Can you actually view thumbnails of your photos?

I appreciate any help you can give and apologies if this is a really dumb question!

Cheers!

stemc322854, if you don't have thumbnail feature switched on, the folder containing your photos will appear as a list. If you see mini photos, then you have thumbnails switched on.
I have used the function mode to Thumbnail mode
This is not a generic switch to enable thumbnail viewing, but instead switches on thumbnails for the particular folder you are in at the time (just like delete doesn't delete all but only the file you have selected).

Example:
let's say you have two subfolders in your images folder 'Cats' & 'Dogs'.
If you want thumbnails in both folders, you have to use function mode twice (once in each folder) to create the file thumbnail.tvix in each folder.

I imagine that your thousands of photos will be over many more folders, so if you want thumbnails in every folder, here's an easier way to do it...

Connect TViX to your computer via USB
Browse to the first folder you want thumbnails in
Create a file called thumbnail.tvix in it
Now go the the next folder and do the same
Continue doing this until each folder that requires thumbnails contains a copy of that file

NOTE: Function mode is not an ON/OFF switch. To stop using thumbnails in a folder, you have to physically remove the thumbnail.tvix file via a USB connection

I hope this helps

Hi,

Thanks it did help. I do though still have some images showing thumbnails and some not within the same folder. Some are very low resolution images, could that be a reason why some do show a thumbnail and some don't?

Thanks

That might be the case.

The latest version of MediaInfo allows you to take details of all files in a folder from which you could select the details of pictures that do not get thumbnails created. (Use TEXT mode)!

You could then copy and paste the details into your reply and we can take a look and see if there is a common factor.

(Or maybe if someone else knows the answer, they could chip in and save you some work)
