Default Tuner problems in my DP-558

Hi,

I see diagonal color interferences (see image enclosed).

I have cable TV with a cable decoder. I connect the antenna cable from the "cable decoder antenna out" to the "Kiss antenna in", and from the "Kiss antenna out" to the TV. Through the TV the image is perfect, through the DVD the image is bad.

If I do this the image is perfect:

From the "cable decoder SCART out" to the "Kiss SCART in", and I select SCART INPUT. Then the image is perfect, but using this, I can't made the automatic tuning...

I have read the review of this page about DP-558 and in the page 11 the photo has the same problem than me. 8O

What's the problem?

PD: sorry for my english, I'm from spain[/img]

I have the same problem. I hope that a firmware fix with fune tuning kan fix it, because this isn't acceptable.

Yes, isn't acceptable.

How it's possible that nobody in the forum talks about this problem?

Because in the DP-558 review of this page, I can see the same problem:

I believe your antenna signal is too strong >65 dB

Try damping the signal with an add-on equipment.
A check hint could be to pull out the antenna plug half way (discover snow on the screen) If the yellow stripes disappears, buy an add-on damping equipment, or whatever it's called in english.

Good luck
I have no problems when i put the cable directly into my TV,
Only when i put the cable into the 558

sorry, but i don't know what you mean with:
Try damping the signal with an add-on equipment.

Some tuners can not handle RF signals wich are too strong usually above 62-65dB.

I'm not sure if I use the correct word, but what you could do to maybe solve the problem, is lowering the signal (damping)

You can buy equipment for that, but you can also check if it solves the problem by talking out the antenna plug half way!
(imagine the signal from the plug being radiated ½-1 mm into the tuner instead of being conducted. That would proberply damp the signal 20dB)

I understand you......thanx

But this is not the right solution

I bought a device of 650 euro, and i will not buy any other equipment to make the quality better.....it's their problem...

I can not record good quality TV for about a month now..................this is unacceptable

Kiss have to solve this problem...........and quick !!!
I still have convidence that they do this in a short time period......if not....
I go nuts......

X3M!

If the tuner can not handle stong signals, you can say it's Kiss' problem, but:

1. I think there is a standard existing for what tuners must handle. (I don't know the details)

2. The tuner on Dp558 is produced by Philips.

3. If you have own antenna, turn down the gain on your amplifier

4. If you have cable complain to the antenna company.

5. It's not only the DP558 that cannot handle strong RF's. Many Televisions and VCR's has the same problem.

6. If you wan't the quick solution, by that f!"#¤% device, it cost about 10? and is actually just a potentiometer (variable resistor)

Please let me know; did it work to plull out the plug half way?
