Default Tvix M-6500 and suddenly lost files?

Hi,

I uploaded a new episode of one TV-serie to the existing subfolder using FTP-transfer (e.g. \VIDEO\TV-Series\Serie_1). According to FTP-client the transfer was successfull. There were about 30 files in that directory, video and subtitle files.

Then I watched one episode from another TV-series ((e.g. \VIDEO\TV-Series\Serie_2).

After finishing that episode I went back to the first directory and surprisingly noticed there were only about 10 files remaining in the folder - using Tvix interface through TV. Same thing when using FTP to access Tvix. Information of available capacity shows there are 4 % left of HDD space. Which is correct as HDD is very full at the moment. However, it also indicates the files are not actually deleted from the disk but just disk filesystem is somehow corrupted - if they would have been deleted, there should be about 10 % space available.

Next thing to try was to connect Tvix to my PC using USB - again the same directory showed same few files. When I tried to delete the directory those visible files were deleted but still getting error that "directory cannot be removed as it is not empty".

So, any advises how I could get the disk file system corrected? Any tools to try?

Thanks for all the advises!

EDIT: FW version 1.3.95 beta in use. No complain of FW version so far.

This has been reported before and I recall the solution was to connect TViX to PC via USB and then to R CLICk on drive and select | Properties |Tools | Check Now (check for disc errors)

Good Luck!

Thanks for the tip!

Tried that one too but it doesn't help - simply response is "Windows was unable to complete the disk check"

Still trying to find a solution...

Thanks for all the suggestions! I have to admit I didn't thought about Google option at all

As soon as I'm able to test if any of the ideas works I'll let you know the result.

It seems that it is hard disk problem. I have encounter such problem before: sudden the hard disk capacity reduce and not match with the indicating capacity, like 1TB become about 500GB showed in PC. The best solution is: claim for warranty.

SiaoNiu, that may well be the eventual outcome but in doing so (unless you have a backup) means losing everything! It could also result in HW being returned to you marked 'user error'.

It is far better to try to repair/retrieve data first. In fact if the 'data loss' was due to something like an FTP transfer having caused data corruption, it would be false to claim that HW was faulty.

It's far better to save yourself grief/inconvenience and do a full diagnostic first.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

chkdsk /f in command prompt was enough to recover the missing files and now the file system seems to working without problems!
