Not able to connect my share
Hi,
I'M not able to see any share from de HDX1000 on my pc.
I followed the instructions as described in this manual
http://www.mpcclub.com/temp/MPC_SMB_..._Guide_PCH.pdf
But I am not able to browse to the share on my pc.
I am able to connect to my pc, but then it stops.
I can reach the HDX1000 from my pc without any problems.
Could someone please assist me with this.
Thanks and best regards.

Well, you will need to explain a little more... What did you do exactly (SMB or NFS?)... Where does it go wrong... What OS are you using?

Hi, thanks for your swift reply.
I have done all de settings on my pc like you described in your manual that is very clear, but on page 3 (SMB) you say that you have to browse to the folder that you have shared on your pc (windows xp Pro).
But I am able to browse to my workgroup (name is NAILWOOD) and also I can see my pc, but i'm not able to browse to the shared folder.
So I'll think it has something to do with my pc side.
Have you got any idea?
Thanks in advance.

I have the same issue (Using a Synology DS207+). Tried several steps, but I get the same: in my networkbrowser I see the share, but if I connect (either via netwl=ork browser or the share address) I get the same message...

Instead of browsing, try entering the URL to the shared folder manually

Thanks for your reply, I have tried that for mpc and that works fine, but I'm not able to get it running for NFS.
If you still got any ideas, please let me know.
thanks

I found NFS a walk in the park compared with Samba (mind you, my NFS links are from a NAS with NFS running).
You're trying to access a PC with NFS s/w running, right?

HOT OFF THE PRESS!
With the help of JohnBlack in the MPC chatroom, I can now give some better advice for getting HDX to see shared folders.
1 Make sure that when you SHARE a folder on PC, make sure that you give read access to the folder.
2 Make sure that on PC, Guest account is enabled.
3 make some configuration changes on PC
| Start | Run | secpol.msc |
| Local Policies | User Rights Assignment | Access this computer from the network |
make sure that Guest is enabled. i.e. doubleclick and add 'Guest' or 'Guests' to the list
| Local Policies | User Rights Assignment | Deny access this computer from the network |
make sure that Guest(s) is REMOVED from this list!
Once you close the Local Security Settings (which will save the changes you have made), you should now be able to browse your folders and be able to play your files.
Thanks again to JohnBlack for his assistance and to Hi-Jack for giving us the ability to chat online and get the problem fixed in record time!
