I don't think it works (i never tried). Maybe external subs are loaded if you run the m2ts file seperately but certainly you cannot load external subs inside a bdmv structure and player the movie as a BD with menus and all. Subs and Audio selection is posisble if they are part of the BD disk backed up.
Anyone corrects me if i'm wrong
I never even tried oading SRT with BD...

It's easy :-)
Locate where you have the file index.bdmv, then take your *.srt file and copy to the same place and then rename it to index.smi thats it

actually i wrote a little util to convert SRTs to XML/PNGs:
http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=32826
[IMG:486:523:99660e5124]http://clownbd.com/Clown_SRT2XMLSUB_4.jpg[/img:99660e5124]
then you can use BDSUP2SUB to convert them to PGS and mux them into the BDMV with tsMuxeR.

Which is the best method to have the best possible quality subtitle in a .ts, .2mts or bdmv?
1. Actually i wrote a little util to convert SRTs to XML/PNGs
2. TsMuxer allow you to add srt files and then make a BD structure output with a embedded sub
3. Locate where you have the file index.bdmv, then take your *.srt file and copy to the same place and then rename it to index.smi (BTW is this only working on the TVIX?)

Plays it with every firmware with BD. So the fw from 1.3.even numbers. Hit the menu button and you can see chapters, audio and subtitles.
