If you're using a mac then I recommend using NFS instead of SMB. NFS is faster will give you a better transfer rate with the dune than SMB anyways and NFS is native on the mac since it's built on FreeBSD.

Setup NFS network folder in HDI Dune Center

In Home folder press POP UP MENU button on remote

Navigate to NEW NETWORK FOLDER press ENTER on remote

Name: Any name
Type: NFS
Server: ip number
Folder: /sharename
Protocol: UDP

My setup HDI Dune Center 1.0 with Netgear Readynas NV+

Name: nasi
Type: NFS
Server: ip number from my Netgear Readynas (in my case 192.168 2.4)
Folder: /media
Protocol: UDP

For SMB under Type: you can choose between SMB or NFS

Please bear in mind that when setting up an SMB connection to a windows vista or higher based PC you MUST enter a username and password.

Took me friggin 3 hours to find that out.
SMB connections won't work without a username and password from vista and up.
Just use your normal user account or make a special user account for the dune in windows.
