Although we have mixed feelings about how things went down in communications and how this patch will enable all the drives to operate properly, we owe it to HDI to show this patch is what we have been waiting for over the last two weeks experiencing all the problems and this is actually the cause of the issues. This patch is the final step for us to go towards a HDI Dune BD Prime 3.0 that works properly. Over the weekend, based on test results of our users, we will see if any further steps are necessary down the road.
That said, we recommend "everyone" to install this patch no matter you experience problems or not. This is to show us that working drives don't become broken as well as indicating drives with reading problems now read the discs properly. When reporting the outcome, please be firm and constructive in your reports so we don't get another mess as last week (my fingers are trigger happy this week).
2. Power off Dune, power on Dune, open Setup menu (entering Setup menu is very important to ensure correct operation), press EJECT, insert the disc, press EJECT again. 3. The BD drive will detect the disc and will update its firmware. 4. Finally, the BD drive will eject the disc on its own. This means that firmware update has completed OK. 5. Power off Dune, power on Dune again (just to be sure).
The firmware is not tested yet by HDI or MPC, as it would not be released today either if not for a little pressure (today was our deadline before using other options) but can't break things according to our information.
Never the less, we recommend people with broken players to try first as they can't break any more. Once confirmed flashing ok, we recommend working units to be flashed as well to make sure it does not break a working drive either.
Re: HDI BDLoader patch and instructions released!!
Burned the Disk on a CDR and it works too, so no need for DVD-R...
Tested BluRay, DVD (Retail), DVD-R all worked OK.
Sound level of drive, to my opinion much better...
1. No more (unneeded) stepping of the servo motor during play of main movie...
2. Drive does not spin-up to high speeds anymore!
Re: HDI BDLoader patch and instructions released!!
Would it be possible for posters to include "pre-patch" status of their drives since post-patch statuses are all relative (with statements like "sound is better"). More or less to just differentiate those w/ previously noisy drives compared to the experiences of those that already had "relatively" quiet drives.
TIA (waiting on this to b e resolv3ed to our unit will be shipped )
Re: HDI BDLoader patch and instructions released!!
We will have instructions shortly guys... Will update the thread...
I was unlucky using thre ISOBURNER free tool so far (6 disks wasted) but we will get there eventually Probably need to use a different program or such if it fails with the free tool...

I have almost same results, but only 5 discs wasted at this moment
..or my drive is patched but the disc do not come out after patch ?
Re: HDI BDLoader patch and instructions released!!
I used Nero Burning Rom 8.
1. Selected a Data CD, No multi session.
2. Added the SUNEXT.B01 as the only file.
3. Burned the CD at 10x.
4. Inserted the CD into the Dune (Only closed Drive didn't press Play).
5. In less than a minute the CD was ejected from the drive automaticly.
Even tried a Philips DVD-RW (VIDEO_TS) that made a lot of noise before.
The disk still makes some noise, but is much more quiet then before the upgrade.
Re: HDI BDLoader patch and instructions released!!
Used Nero to burn data disk onto dvd-r successfuly and then verified disk to confirm cntents. Optical drive spins up when disk is inserted and then ejects a few secons later, no confirmation whatsoever. Played back 'The Dark Knight' which plays quietly until it hits that spinning disk image and then the bd drive makes the same noises as I heard before (i.e. alot of seeking noises). Disk is still spinning, so I guess the patch hasn't been applied??
