Hi,

from what i have read the only difference between the two realtek was the really memory difference and the 1073 is more than capable, my mede8ter decodes 5.1 audio fine, just need to add HD pass through via future firmware updates.

please refer to below thread for technical specs

Does this mean that these chips will never do pass through of HD Audio formats?

I don't think so. In my opinion, the table gives an overview of the audio/video formats the chip is able to decode. Correct me if I am wrong, but I think that for bitstream pass through no decoding is necessary.

So, the main differences between the chips are the amount of memory and the fact that the 1283 can decode to 5.1ch while the 1073 decodes to 2ch?

I'm extremely interested in the 1283 HD pass through.. can you provide any insight on software/firmware to use to accomplish this??
or can you provide the actual and full datasheet for this chip-set??
I'll keep searching the forum and reading, but if you can give me a heads up on this information - that would perfect. thanks in advance.
