When you plan a recording a message in the display
"stand by for recording" (stb for rec). Sometimes it go wrong when de player is not in the right mode.

I've got my player not a long time and I also don't knwo how I can see the player is in stand by mode. When I close the DVD trade I push on te power buttom on my remote control and I cannot see any station "through" my DVD, thats for me the sign the machine is in standby mode and ready for recordings

Just as simple. My manual doesnt mention that but the three stripes I recognize
