Default DTS HD MA doesn't work always

maybe somebody has an idea...

DTS HD MA Bitstream Output doesn't work with my Base 3 (latest firmware) if the source is a BD-Image (e.g. US version of "The golden compass"). In this case the dts core is been used according to my audio processor. If i choose the main m2ts file DTS HD MA will be used! What's strange, those other HD-Audio Formats (Dolby TrueHD, DTS HD HR) work always, be it a BD-Image or m2ts file.

It's DTS HD MA and BD-Images only - a configuration which a lot of people probably have running without problems(?). Why me? Any ideas? What Receivers do you have which will do the job?

I'm still undecided where the root cause of this problem is and am still gathering informations....thx!

Just a quick question.

You state that this happens with BD-image's only.
So just to get this straight, this doesn't happen with BD Folders ?
I'm not talking about m2ts files but entire bd folder structures.

Since the playback of BD uses a diffent engine then the folder playback one's i suspect you BR audio settings are not done correctly. Pleasy list the settings you have in regard to your audio setup.

We really need more info to find the source of the issues.
Works flawless here with a Denon AVR3808A reciever

Default Re: DTS HD MA doesn't work always

thanks to both of you for your feedback. appreciated!

@Malignant: ups, mixed it. It's BD Folders (and not BD-ISO-Images) played back via NFS.

Audio Settings
Digital audio: original (bitstream)
HDMI audio: activated
Blu-ray audio: best quality

I have a 5.1 setup and my test disk is the us-version of golden compass. It's a rather simple one in terms of complexity (1x video stream, 1x dts-hd-ma 7.1 + 1x 2ch commentary). For a test i've reconfigured my audio processor to 7.1, which results in "dts-es-discrete" up-processing - but still no dts-hd-ma.

summary:
dts-hd-hr + dobly-true-hd => works for m2ts + bd-playback
dts-hd-ma => only m2ts, not for bd-playback

btw. my c-200 exhibits the same behaviour so i think there may be some incompatibilities between sigmas bd-player app and my audio process (primare sp32hd)

Hello,

i've the same problems with dune bd 3.0 and Onkyo TX-SR607. Some .m2ts files with DTS HD MA will play normaly and any other one failt, no sound! The bd-rips are from europe version (2) of "Forbidden Kingdom", "IP Man", "Tödliches Kommando - The Hurt Locker". The rips are definitly ok.

Can somebody help please.

Is there any way you might update the FW of your Pre-Amp ?

Otherwise just set the Dune to LPCM output via HDDMI i suggest.
There really isn't any difference in quality of sound if it's sent out in bitstream of LPCM.

I assume the LPCM stream is handeld properly by your Pre-Amp.

The strange thing is that it does work for file playback, but not for BD-folder playback.
Just one more question, does DTS-MA work for BD iso playback ?

The logical conclusion would be that it doesn't work for ISO & Folder playback since they both use the BD playback engine on the dune. File playback uses a different player.
So i think it's some form of incompatibility between the BD playback engine and your Pre-Amp.

Hi Malignant,

there ist no way to update the firmware of my pre-amp. Yesterday i had switched to LPCM but there cames no sound too. The BD-ISO feature works nicely, no problems, DTS HD MA over bitstream works fine. I tryed the new beta firmware but no different. The Popcorn Hour A-110 plays the files correctly. I will be on the end with my latein.

Greetings

- true-hd/dts hd hr with bd playback works +
- dts-hd master with file playback works

Same here with DTS-HD MA on 2 hdmi 1.3 receivers:

Digital audio: bitstream
HDMI audio: activated
Blu-ray audio: best quality

I have it sometimes in file playback so far. This is with .ts or .m2ts files.

Maybe it has something to do with the bookmarks?
It happens here if the English audio is second in line and for example German audio is first. When switched to English, then stopping the movie and then resuming I get the problem.
The audiostream chosen after resuming is English as it should but silent.
Switching to the German audio and back to English solves the problem in this cases.
