Arrow MPC Guide: Remote Control NAS by Telnet Trick

Wow, since we released the NAS Guide 2010 yesterday we had a lot of positive response appreciating the effort. It works stimulating for us writers to bring you even more fun stuff to read and work with. Today, we release a new guide in which we tell you how to remotely control your NAS power status at the click of a button from your PC. We cover booting NAS remotely (Wake On Lan), shutting it down or simply reboot it from your PC without logging on to the server. and navigate to the power options.

We used as example a QNAP server (TS809). This guide will work with all models having Telnet and Wake on LAN and understanding the basic commands used in this guide and if not, they can easily be replaced with commands your server does understand.

As an alternative solution I can recommend this free Wake-On-Lan utility, which I have been using for years:
