Help Needed
hi,
I'm new to this forum and may I start by saying how pleasant it is to find a forum where very few of the contributions would have been best unwritten.
After recently aquiring a Storex Aivx 380HDRW ( there's one born every minute ) , I searched this forum to discover whether I had better gracfully admit I had made a mistake or if the situation could be rectified.
It did not occur to me that anyone could market a disk with network facilities and not provide an FTP server in it. Or have recording facilities without a timer. Caveat Emptor.
As I understand it , this machine is a french clone for the ELLION HMR 700A with firmware dating back to the initial releases. The Storex download for the Firmware dates the install.flash.img on the 28-12-2007.
The latest firmware I have found has this file dated the 16-3-2009.
However I read that Ellion firmware is not known for its reliability - more of a "solve one bug" and "generate another two" type of developement.
Can any of you tell me whether this firmware (A328AP_S1001_090316a) is in fact the latest and if it is usable ?
What features have they added ? If any.
Has the basic box been modified so it will not work in the earlier ones ?
Is it still possible to add the FTP server or does the latest firmware block all access ?
One last question - how do you discover what release of the firmware you have installed ?
I'm sure there must be a posting on the subject but I can't find it.
Hoping someone can help me.
