Connect to windows tvix netshare from linux box
Hello,
I would like to use windows Tvix Netshare software v2.1.1.0 as server for an GnuLinux (dist xubuntu 10.04) running on a PC.
It's seems that tvix netshare authenticate the Tvix 6500 when is it connected on USB.
Perhaps is it possible to add somewhere (ie the registry) ip of an another GnuLinux box.
I try on the GNULinux to enter command :
sudo mount -t nfs 192.168.0.11:/tvixhd1 /media/tvixhd1
I got this error
mount.nfs: mount system call failed
An error dialog is displayed on windows and ask to connect tvix to USB.
Does somebody could help me, please ?
Best regards,
Renaud

Re: Connect to windows tvix netshare from linux box
I do not believe this is possible.
The software acts as an NFS server to provide NFS shares only to the TViX device.

Re: Connect to windows tvix netshare from linux box
Hello,
Thank's for your answser, I agree with you the software acts as an NFS server.
The tvix is based on an linux system.
Do you really think that dvico has modified NFS protocol to be only compatible with its TVIX ?
I think (and hope) it more a security issue...
Regards,
Renaud

Re: Connect to windows tvix netshare from linux box
I am not 100% but I am certain they just implemented the Netshare for the TViX only.
It is after all their own program designed to work with their product.

Re: Connect to windows tvix netshare from linux box
Hello,
If is it, the tvix has two version of nfs protocol inside... Because the tvix could be connected to a NAS from other company.
Is it why I think that NFS Share software could be use with other device.
If something is write on windows registry to authenticate a tvix (ie store the mac address) it could be possible to add more.
It seems you have 2 Tvix.
Could you connect its to the same NFS Share software ?
Best regards,
Renaud
