Re: Which program do you use: MyMovies, yaDIS, Dune Explorer 2, Movienizer, Zappiti..
I preferred Zappiti, but now I am testing Movienizer. Haven't made everything clear about it so far, but the first thing that I can say is that it creates Dune catalogues that are not worse Zappiti's ones...

Re: Which program do you use: MyMovies, yaDIS, Dune Explorer 2, Movienizer, Zappiti..
Hi All,
I wanted to start using one of these but had a few questions for my needs.
I have all my movies within one or two folders with the movie name as follows.
i.e
IP Man [2009 DTS 1080p]-CHD.mkv
now i dont want to create individual folders but keep all the movie artwork and info in a single folder.
can the above be done with any of the software? except movieziner (which i know it can do but prefer the progress and development of other software)
how efficient is the software at picking up titles using like a auto scan i.e can it ignore anything in brackets or give you a list of options of movie titles if it not sure?

I can answer for yaDIS
For movie search, yaDIS ignores everything in brackets. When processing several movies at a time, yaDIS will not stop the process if one or several movies are not found. During the process yaDIS will not prompt you if several results are found for a movie title. He will take the first entry. This way, you don't need to stay at your desk if you process a large amount of movies. After the process, all processed movies will be tagged as "Not verified". Then you will have to check each movie. If a movie has been processed correctly, you can toggle its status to "Verified". Not found movies will be tagged as "Not found" with a special icon. Then you can do a manual search by entering the correct movie title.
yaDIS can use your current movie artwork. For instance, you will have to use this naming convention:
IP Man [2009 DTS 1080p].mkv
IP Man [2009 DTS 1080p]-poster.jpg
IP Man [2009 DTS 1080p]-fanart.jpg
You can use "cover" instead of "poster" and any character instead of "-".
With the current version, yaDIS is not able to retreive movie information from a text file (like a .nfo). It will be implemented in a future release.
Hope this answered you questions.
Fred.

Hi Fred,
Thanks for the info do you know if Yadis can store all movie info in one folder? i don't want to create multiple folders for hundreds of movies.

yaDIS doesn't store anything in movie folders. This keep things clear.
yaDIS has its own workspace where movie information is stored (and images). You can place this workspace wherever you want (by default, it's in the program folder). The output generated by yaDIS (the interface for the Dune) is also stored in this workspace and is supposed to be exported to the Dune player (or any location accessible by the player) each time you make an update.

Hi Fred,
I have tried this and like everything except from one folder of over 50 movies it only managed to find two movies.
found:
Fourth Kind [720p DTS].mkv
not found
Malcolm X [1992 AC3 1080i HDTV]-CTRLHD.mkv
it seems it does not like any movies with the ending -*Encoder*.mkv
is there anyway i can get it to ignore everything after the first bracket?

I use My Movies simply because they support the biggest amount of media players and that makes it very easy to keep your collection synchronized across all your devices.
Also, they offer a neat android app that makes it possible to browse your movie collection on your handset and start playback on the Dune.

Seconded. MyMovies is the most comprehensive piece of software so far. Not only it is not limited to only one brand/player but supports several media players of different brands, its scraper collects movie information from almost anywhere in the world, it provides meta data for WMC, works with WHS, and you can publish your collection in the web to share it with friends&family.
Highly recommended IMO.

I use this to rename all my movies and episodes and keep them uniform.
