Default Dune HD3 - Ethernet Autonegotiation Issue

Hi,

I got a brand new Dune HD base 3 player last week. I've updated the player firmware to the latest (beta) version and at the first time I had no problems. Video-streaming over SMB worked fine. But after ~ 2 days the problems started.

At the first time the player could not connect to the SMB server and I coundn't ping the player. Now the player cound'nt receive a IP from my dhcp.

I mentioned that the "active link" LEDs on the Ethernet-port are always on (fast flashing), even without traffic. After I forced "10 Mbit" with the help of my switch configuration I got the player back operational. With "10 Mbit" everything works fine. I've connected the player directly to mutiple switches, laptops, changed cables but every time the same result. In "Autonegotiation " mode the both port "LEDs" switch over to a steady fast flashing. If this happens, then the player is not able to communicate with the network.

Btw: Gigabit support is disabled

Is there any possibility to make a "Hard-Reset"? I tryed a to flash the firmware again, and switched on/off a multiple times.

Could this be a problem of the hardware?

Thanks
Gnubbel

I suspect you also tried bouncing your router and any switches you have as well. If not worth a shot. Not sure from your description if you have assigned a static IP address to your dune player in your router. If not, I would if nothing else to avoid having it reset forcing the whole handshake to occur again. You could also try running a patch cable from your router to the Dune. Eliminate any switches, wall jacks, etc and using a new cable. Maybe just a bad cable or connection....

wish ya luck..

Hi,

I tried different cables and switches and also a direct connection with a computer with a static dune ip. Every time the same result.

Anyway I got my player back operational. After reseting to factory defaults (using the misc script file) and disconnecting the power supply for approx. 30 minutes I got the network functionality working.

It looks like that a short-time power restart is not reseting some embedded parts of the ethernet chipset. (probably some capacitors still powering the chipset).

My player is now running without problems for 2 days. I hope that the player remains stable. ....
