Just wonderd wot your thought were, regards the future of kiss technology.??
|
I think KISS will be around in the future for some time if they keep innovating in the way they are now. There are always people that want the coolest and newest gadgets.

For now the DP558 is the only (or 1 of very few) that plays DivX, CD, DVD, mp3, etc; has HDD recorder, has network capabilities, can access internet, etc etc And all of this for just EUR 529,- (DivXPlayer.nl some time ago).
|
It does seem daft how we all buy these players from them, then spend the next 12 months as Beta testers to help them produce firmware`s so 1 day we can sit back and relax and finally get the player we paid for.
|
I do agree with you that we are treated as beta-testers. It is for 'normal' customers unacceptable that the dp558 still not has all functionality that is promised

; still contains a lot of bugs

; and what I understand now even has hardware changes (rev 7) compared to the first releases

(I was one of the first 'lucky 100' that got a DP558, but I paid a lot more then the EUR 529,-

). But I don't see myself as a 'normal' customer. At this moment the DP558 is still a nerds toy.

And I knew this when I ordered the DP558. Maybe in 6 months it is ready for 'normal' customers??? 8O

any way I am gonna go and play russian roulette with the power button on my 558 player >>> If I am lucky I might be able to get 30 mins enjoyment out of it B4 it shoots me in the head.
|
30 mins enjoyment is very negative view. Personally I don't have that experience. I can play a DVD without problems; I can listen mp3 music without problem; I can record and watch TV shows without problems; network/internet access without problem; .......The only thing that is still bothering me at this moment is that it is still impossible to watch DivX with subtitles

. And yes every once in a while (typically once a day) the player has to be reset (power off/on) to work normal again. So what ! When you are using microsoft products for some time, you get used to this
