Default Connect directly to a PC (network cable)

Hi guys, I would like to connect my N1 cafe player to my PC, since I have a broadband modem without a router built in, and I dont want to buy a router, I was thinking of connecting the N1 directly to my PC with a network cable.

Is this possible? How would the N1 get an IP, would my pc med acting as a DHCP server? Do I need to installe extra software to make this work?

Thanks for your answers, best regards Roman M.

Theoretically - yes. You will need 2 network adapters in your PC (if you will need to keep it online, or you have to unplug router cable, reconfigure network settings, plug x-over cable) and use x-over cable to connect TVIX with preconfigured static IP to PC.
Also you need a bit more than basic network infrastructure knowledge.
My recommendation is: look for router with more than 1 lan port or wireless.

The idea is to use a powerplug adapters, is there still a need for crossover cables?

Nope, not if you use ethernet over powerline.
