Desired Features
I'm starting this thread to ask for other people to list desired features that may not be in the "Vote for Features" section.
The Sigma 8642 processor that powers most Dune 3.0s is capable of running Linux and Android OS. I'm guessing it's running Linux as Android is still pretty new.
Flash apps would be nice to run on the Dune player. If there isn't a Flash runtime for Linux then Flash-lite.
Silverlight would also be nice. Silverlight's implementation for Linux is Moonlight.
These are two technologies that if implemented on the Dune players would allow customizers to make extremely rich experiences.

Event if I don't believe it will ever implemented.
But that would be nice.....
But then a SDK with low level features (Playing controls and status, ...) should be provided

Re: Desired Features
Hi,
flash lite is in the firmware for 6 month now:
- Added support for launching Flash applications (Flash Lite 3).
- To launch a Flash application, just launch ".swf" file in file
browser.
- More information about Flash applications support is here.

Re: Desired Features
If flashlite is in the firmware, is there a way to launch from dune_folder.txt/playback_url?
This would be ideal.
Silverlight/moonlight support would be ideal. Same launching scenario. As far as playback controls/remote control input, this could be done easily via javascript and a nice Dune wrapper sdk for Silverlight.
This would open up the dune player for many media formats that come with the Silverlight/moonlight runtime. One of them would be smooth streaming.
Then I'm sure companies like Netflix would be able to make an implementation that works for the Dune player very quickly.

Re: Desired Features
Hi TheJeffro,
there is no way that you get new media formats with flash lite or moonlight. On a PC you have a very strong CPU which can handle all kind of media. On a media player you have a weak CPU which relies on a special chip to show videos. If the chip cannot handle a format you can not see it.
Netflix is another problem. The dune is not approved by netflix and thatīs the reason why it is not working.
