Default Dune HD MAX and Harmony or other Universal remotes

I have seen some older threads related to this, but I have been unable to find any information on being able to use a Logitech Harmony remote with the new Dune HD MAX. If anybody has information on this, or experience with setting one up I would be interested in hearing how it went.

I have a MAX on the way and am debating purchasing a Harmony so any help would be appreciated.

You can use the Logitech Harmony one for just about anything. If it's not in their database (unlikely) then if you have the original remote, you can use that to 'code' the Logitech. Set up is logical and allows for a fair amount of 'personalisation'. There is a site that lets you download all sorts of image files for various tv stations etc for free too. It isn't like other universal remotes in that not only can you control different devices individually, it controls activities as well. So if you want to watch tv it will activate whatever is required for that activity, watch a dvd, will do the same and so on. Changing from one activity to another, it remembers what needs to be switched off, what needs to be switched on and does what ever is required.

I use two Logitech 1100s to control both my Dune HD MAx systems. In the last couple of weeks they updated their database and have re-classified the Dune HD Max from a set top device to a multimedia PC. The new profile is comprehensive and controls the Dune well. Be sure to set the repeat number to 0 in trouble shooting as I suffered from double and triple responses on default.

Harmony One + device from Logitech Library "Dune BD PRIME DVD":
works OK with Dune Prime 3.0 too.

If we talking about universal remote for iDevices:
iRule & iRule HD
http://www.mpcclub.com/forum/showthread.php?t=24628
- we have implemented IR codes for latest Dune models (needed IP2IR gateway)
- we have implemented prepared IP control for latest Dune models
(you can control Dune directly from iPod Touch / iPhone / iPad, without any gateway - works excelent)

EDIT:
latest Dune models = all current models based on Sigma 8642/43:
- Prime 3.0
- Base 3.0
- MAX
- Smart D1 / H1 / B1

Here is example of my remote for Dune mediaplayer for iPad:

and this is only first step - emulation of RC commands from iDevices.

The second step is 2-way communication, which can looks for example, such as this app for iPad:
http://www.mpcclub.com/forum/showthread.php?t=25538
... you can browse / search / filter your whole library of media content on iDevice, and when you choose - only click to button "Play", and mediaplayer starts playback, but you have fully control on it....

Display and Control Dune Movie Catalog on iPad in iRule HD

WAW!
... one guy starts work on it ...
... implementing showing movie database inside in iRule and controlling Dune ...

I've been working on a solution to display my Dune Player movie catalog in a format similar to zappiti or dunex but directly on the iPad (within iRule) and with the ability to start movies from that catalog. For those who might be interested, here's what I've come up with:

NOTE: This is just a proof of concept. The "play your movie by tapping a button on your iPad" part of this is Dune specific and dependent upon HDI releasing their IP controllable firmware which is currently in Beta.

Hi llewdis,
I've got a Max (3 days ago) and logitech harmony 525, which is working well now after a bit of extra setting up. "Enter" on the Dune remote and "OK" on the harmony did not initially do the same thing. Also you will want to map a button to perform the Dune's "Pop Up Menu" function.
You can fix both of these in the harmony softwares Activities/Customize Buttons. EG map the button "OK" to Media Center > "Enter". I mapped "Guide" to perform the "pop up menu" function. You can also move other functions up to the main screen of the remote for easy access- this is under the Device tab, and customize buttons (Additonal Buttons)
You will still prefer the original remote for setting up networking etc, but for everyday use the Harmony is great.
