I bought in 2009 a Dune player in the US. Since a week I face the problem with starting up the system. It just gives the first screen with “Dune” logo and “Loading..”.

After speaken with the Dutch Dune support organization and the advice without any success to install/restore the latest firmware, they told me that I have to ask Support@dune-hd.com organization for help. (It seems that the NL main PCB is different in comparison with the US used main PCB ?!)

Does somebody have the same problem and is there somebody who can help me to solve this issue. (f.e. is there a PCB hard reset to factory settings)

Do you maybe have a HD attached to the Dune using the eSata connector? I had problems with this including unable to start my dune, sudden reboots, etc. I switched to USB and all problems were magically resolved.

But your solution didn't work. It seems to touch the USB-stick but then it hangs in the loading screen.

Try this service file allowing to perform software reboot of Dune player.

If this don't help-only solution- service.

Hello Jos,

Unfortunately i have the same issue with my Dune HD Smart B1. You see the Dune logo with the loading... text. This screen takes longer than usual. After this, a black screen. No response from the player at all.

Sometimes, after a long time, it manages to get through the main screen but there it freezes.

I tried to do a firmware recovery to the first firmware version, but unfortunaly, no luck. No drives are attached. Only a system USB stick. But also without this stick i get the same issues...

Any ideas are welcome.

How about internet cable-its attached-if yes try remove everything .

I'm seeing exactly the same problem here with the B1, too. Device was running fine for 2 weeks or so, last night the aforementioned effect started, completely out of the blue.

I tried removing the USB stick (with system storage), I tried pulling the Ethernet plug, to no avail.

Some things I noticed:

a) The SMB server in the device works fine all the time
b) The UI doesn't actually hang, it's just reacting really, really, really slowly (one IR signal per minute?)
c) If I pull the ethernet cable, the "can't check new firmware version" popup shows up and THIS one reacts completely normal
d) The drive tray never opens, even when the main UI finally shows up.

Esspecially d) kind-of suggests that there might be an issue with the BR drive which is causing the main UI to get stuck when scanning drives or something like this.

I would look into the device for loose cables or so if it weren't for the warranty seal...

One last thing before service I want to try is running the reset settings service file from the USB stick, if I manage to wait long enough to get it selected...

Yep,

Service is the only solution, but nobody will help me. The Dune representative in the Netherlands says I have to go to the .COM organization bcause of the so called difference of the BCP. I went to .com and no results/reaction. (no global garantee)

Unless somebody can help me. (I am going to break the seal and look inside. I think it could be the Blueray drive)

Otherwise I guest the only solution is trashbukket (430 dollars = 325 Euro gone).
