tweakers.net review
Tweakers.net has published a review about the new Boxee
http://tweakers.net/reviews/1908/all...schijning.html
Unfortunately the review is in dutch, but google translate actually does a pretty good job in making it 'readable' if you understand 'googlenglish'
http://translate.google.com/translat...schijning.html
I was looking forward on the Boxee, because it uses an Atom CPU and is based on XBMC. I like the idea of a good looking and small media player that is fast and uses open source software. It also isn't that expensive at all for an Atom based product compared to others.
Anyone here has got their hands on a Boxee yet?

Re: tweakers.net review
I found out you can actually turn a pc into a boxee. I'm gonna try that out first.

Re: tweakers.net review
Not yet. Will be januari I guess. All out of stock here.
Price of the first batch was too high anyway. 199 dollar
would be around 175 euro, they asked from 220 and upwards.
I will hang on a little longer....but I will get it for sure.
Cheers

Re: tweakers.net review
I wonder if the Atom Based media players will pump out better pictures than Sigma based players. Looks like ACRyan has already announced Fluxx to compete with Boxee: www.acryan.com/fluxx. Specs looks like it leapfrogs Popcorn.

Re: tweakers.net review
I have had the Box one day. Returned it the next day.
The latest firmware had telnetd removed. This tendency for
closing down the Box by the developers did it. Among other things:
- noisy fan (uncontrolable)
- apps are US oriented
- 3rd party repositories are (still) few and uninteresting
- scraper not accurate and not selectable
- no dutch gui
- internet browser was not so good
Very much liked the remote control though.
Perhaps one day if XMBC will be available for it or other custom firmware.
Cheers
