Re: Dune and 2.5 Tb & 3 Tb HDD
So what the hell is DUNE waiting for to provide flawless 3TB support ???
ps : I did one last test with the new firmware : formatted the 3TB to match an exact 2TB drive (1,83TB showing up), DVD ISO are still not working.
The Dune Smart unit seem not to understand a 3TB drive environment...

Delete the GPT partition using the disk manager. Format to 2.2 TB, it should work. It did for me. There are ways to format it so that the whole 3 TB would be recognized, but anything beyond ~700 GB won't play.

Re: Dune and 2.5 Tb & 3 Tb HDD
Hello, I just ordered a Smart B1, and I am wondering if this is still an issue? I was hoping that I would be able to connect a 4TB HDD to the USB on my Dune when they become affordable. Will that not work for me? If not, what about a device like this with 2 2TB HDD's?
Code:

Thanks!

I think the docking is designed to use only 1 HDD at a time.

Yep, it's still an issue. A 4TB USB will almost certainly have issues. If you connect two 2TB drives via USB, as long as the Dune sees them as two separate drives then you should be okay.
I believe the product you linked to should work.

This is interesting, I didn't consider that. I wonder if anyone here has used a product like this and can confirm.
One other question on a similar subject. If I used 2 2TB HDD's that are the 2.5" that dont need external power, and used a powered USB hub, would there be enough power there? Would the drives sleep when the Dune was powered down? the drives would most likely be "WD Mypassports" Thanks for the help guys!

I don't know why that dock would only support 1 at a time; that sounds like FUD to me. The whole point of such a dock is to connect two drives.
As long as you use a powered USB hub then you should be okay with 2.5" drives. Dune does not recommend plugging in such drives to the Dune directly because it might not be able to provide sufficient power.
I have a 1.5TB WD Elements USB (3.5") that will properly power down as soon as the Dune enters standby. I would assume the 2.5" versions would behave the same way.

Re: Dune and 2.5 Tb & 3 Tb HDD
Correction. I think it can work with both drives together, but you wil see for sure 2 separate drives. I am sorry I did not see correctly in the picture (I saw 2 esata connectors, I thought it was 2 USB).

Re: Dune and 2.5 Tb & 3 Tb HDD
If there were only 1 esata and 1 usb, then they should have mentioned RAID in the specifications, but they did not. It means you will see 2 separate drives.

While it might not apply to the product in question, it is possible to see multiple drives even using just one eSata or USB connector (using port multplication). Sometimes this is called JBOD.
But I agree that since this product doesn't mention RAID, you will certainly see two separate drives. Which is good.
