sorry,
perhaps not well understood.
I created the new shared folder "DUNE" on the DS, not on the DUNE "Player", through the menu "Control Panel", "shared folder".
In this menù I have defined the shared option.
From your Mac see the folder you created and shared?
If you see it from the Mac, the operation is correct.
If not, on DS, you have to enable sharing options to networks Mac and Win: "Control Panel", "Win/Mac/NFS".

fabrizio

Not at all, Zaiss. It´s me now who explained it wrong, you did perfectly. In fact, I created the DUNE folder in DS, just like you. The thing is I can see it from the Mac (I see the folders DUNE, photo, music and video) but when I go to "Network/UPnP" in Dune I see the rest but not the "DUNE" folder I created.

Ok, thanks. I´ll try to fix it. At least I know it must work.

Re: DuneX - Mac Software for Dune
jacobius, did you enabled NFS protocol on your DS?
if so, run this command from your Mac's Terminal
Code:
showmount -e DS_IP_Address
you should see all of your DS's NFS shares with correct paths, as it should be used on Dune. Hope it helps.

I enabled NFS on my DS, but I´m not familiar at all with this, so excuse me:
Should I run on Terminal the following:showmount -e DS_192.168.1.18,
being this IP the one I see in DS > Network, generated by DHCP?
Because when I write this, it says:showmount: can't resolve host: DS_192.168.1.18
Thanks.

no, DS_ is unnecessary.
so in your case it should be:
Code:
showmount -e 192.168.1.18

Re: DuneX - Mac Software for Dune
Hey guys, just started using this site (also just got a Dune HD Duo a couple of days ago)...have a couple of questions:
1. Is DuneX the only supported media jukebox I can use on my Duo (I have a MacBook Pro with Snow Leopard)
2. Is there a best place to copy my movie files to; I currently just copied them to the root directory f the 2TB hard drive I installed in one of the bays.
3. Can I copy TV Shows to the same directory? How exactly do I separate them.
Appreciate any responses; I am new to this and although I have set up media servers before, I have never used a Dune or DuneX...I have upgraded the Firmware to the latest stable version and am using DuneX 0.8.4.
I tried to test it out before I copied all the movies, with just one, and got it to display the movie with the info, but it replaced the "Hard Disk" icon with the one movie I had in there; when I deleted it, the icon also disappeared.
Thanks again guys!

1. Yes, the DuneX is the only OS X software for the Dune so far.
2 and 3. It is better to keep movies and tv shows in separate folders. Most obvious way is to create different folders in the root of your hard drive for different kind of media (for example Movies for movies, TV for tv shows etc). It will make scraping your videos using DuneX easy and painless (you can add your folders to DuneX as separate sources or just add your hard drive as source, and then select corresponding media type, icon and background for each folder).
Also you can separate HD from SD, Blu-Ray from MKV and so on. There is no "best practice", it's only up to you.

Re: DuneX - Mac Software for Dune
Great! Another question, that may seem really simple, but I haven't found it in the forum; How do I access the movie files on my Dune player? I noticed Zappiti needs to be "run" before it pulls up all the images for movies, same with Yadis...with DuneX, i only tried one movie on the internal hard drive so far and I had to go to "Hard Disk" to access it, and it ended up erasing my Hard drive icon in the process; Is there a separate "DuneX" shortcut to run on the actual player? Or do I just access it from the "Hard Disk"...i noticed many of the screenshots that people post show a much nicer UI that doesn't have Hard Disk anywhere on there; eg "Movies" and "TV Shows" are the only visible icons, and all the individual shows/movies are pictured within those...
Hope I made sense, this program seems really cool, I am just trying to get a hang of what it can do.
Thanks again!
One more thing, when I tried creating a folder within "Hard Disk" on the dune player main page, clicking on hard disk brought up a list of folders that I couldn't actually "highlight" to select...is there a better way to do this?
