Mede8er announces "MED500X2" out now!
Mede8er is becoming more serious as days gone by and surprisingly they today announced to us a "new" media player in their range. On the outside, it may look the same as the earlier models, on the inside, quite a bit has changed. Again, Mede8er gets marked with "congrats" by MPC, not just by the players and their functions that live up to our expectations but by Mede8er's general and calm approach all round. Let's have a few details on the player itself we'd be looking at pretty soon...
|
The MED500X2 is the very latest Multimedia Player developed by Mede8er for today’s demanding media enthusiast. The X2 has been designed for good solid media playback from a hard drive, USB device, SD Card, Internet or Local Network source. The X2 is equipped with advanced features like Fast Gigabit Port and Super Fast USB 3.0 Slave port and is upgrade ready for the fast PCIe WiFi kit that will be available as an optional after-market upgrade kit. The Mede8er fully supports the very latest video codex's such as MKV-H264, BDMV, BDISO, M2TS for seamless playback of all supported media files. You can now pass full HD Audio streams via HDMI to your amplifier for a full 7.1 surround sound experience.
|
Now add support of the 3TB hard drives with internal formatting feature (no more PC), USB 3.0, GBIT ethernet port (that will likely perform still below what one can reasonably expect from GBIT), extreme silent fan to control air without noise disturbing you're viewing pleasure, support for MAC HFS+ format and things we already know from the earlier players like "watched indicator" and then a handful of custom views, cover art system integrated and so on...
It goes further with optional wireless (dongle or PCIe Wi-Fi) and keyboard for your surfing pleasure, integration of on-line content providers, XML support for the media library, meta data search (in development coming in a firmware upgrade), YouTube XL and a lot more. The best of all may just be the fact Mede8er remains true to it's pricing strategy delivering robust media players at low prices without making sacrifices.
It's clear, Mede8er is not the "one-day-fly" brand many expected them to be in the early days and they have become just about the top "Realtek" based player there is out there for a very reasonable price and the stability and support is added free, rated excellent by both MPC Club and "Kieskeurig" (picky), a famous Dutch rating web site for all kinds of products rating Mede8er the best media players for several months in a row (just like us in the Realtek section)...
The new mede8er MED500X2 is available starting 1st of June.

http://www.mede8er.eu/products/new-med500x2.html
PS: Starting 1st of June Mede8er support will be available from 9am to 8PM. Currently support covers NL and EN languages, German, French and Italian will soon be available as well in Europe. Player comes standard with 5 year warranty (within Europe only, packaging is different outside EU).

Re: Mede8er announces "MED500X2" out now!
Sounds like a decent media player.
Any infomations about NFS, I would like to use the player as stream client mounted to my NAS (QNAP 419p+)?
Will you or are you already testing this media player?
Thanks and regards

Re: Mede8er announces "MED500X2" out now!
I have been looking for a replacement for my slowly failing Tvix 6500. I am not feeling the need to stay within the Dvico family.

Since the original MED500X model worked with NFS with my QNAP 219P I would assume the new model will work as well.

Re: Mede8er announces "MED500X2" out now!
MED500X2 Firmware v1 has a NFS bug that is SDK related so we suggest that Samba is used until this is resolved. We see no major reason to use NFS on the X2 as you can stream full BDMV content on a Samba network.

Re: Mede8er announces "MED500X2" out now!
Hi, two questions.
1) can i apply custom color to subtitles?
2) I pause a movie, then change the external subtitle file (srt) to check the translation. The new language shows or I have to play the movie to see the new subtitle?
Thanks.

Two Answers:
1) No custom colours - only those available from selection: White, Black, Red, Green, Blue & Yellow
2) Using an external SRT file, if I pause and select the SRT sub, then the text for that particular time frame appears on-screen immediately, while still pausing without having to press play

Re: Mede8er announces "MED500X2" out now!
Very interesting player. Testing before buying because this one has a fan too. I want to get rid of that fannoise of my 6500A. I don't want to hear a thing from my player.
