Introduction: Mede8er MED400X2 / MED450X2
In the early days, Mede8er was considered a one day fly bringing OEM Realtek based products to the market. The truth is, the brand started because of their frustration with MViX and their impossible support delivery in a market that was adopting the media players very fast: South-Africa... Now Mede8er has become a brand to recon with in Europe, being sold in many retail and online shops thanks to a strong partnership with EU distributor IBDL. That turns out to be a healthy marriage as Mede8er is since, the Number 1 Realtek based player out there, no doubt!
With the new MED400X2 and MED450X2 joining the earlier released MED500X2, the range is complete from maturely sized HDD player / streamer to mini HDD / streamer and mini streamer... and the price is good as well. Starting at €109 for the MED400X, the entry into Mede8er is low but there are other brands flirting with this price range nowadays so Mede8er must convince buyers to pick their products over others...
Let's see how we feel about them...
Introduction is attached...

Re: Introduction: Mede8er MED400X2 / MED450X2
I just think the price difference between the 400x2 and the 450x2 is to high ...
500GB HD does not costs 120€ ... At least there should be a model without hard drive already fitted but with option to fit it (and i'm talking about 2,5" drives, because for 3,5" drives we already have the 500x2).
Regards.

Re: Introduction: Mede8er MED400X2 / MED450X2
I agree it doesn't cost that much for a HDD but the part software development and materials in addition to the unit (SATA conector and software, USB cable, USB host 3.0, carrying bag) to support the HDD drive must not be forgotten. The price can be seen as a little steep in the end but the overcharge will be near 20 euro's only (€25 is allowed for no loss of points) ...

Re: Introduction: Mede8er MED400X2 / MED450X2
The MED450X2 uses a completely different PCB and the Input Voltage is 12v 2A vs 5v 2.4 AMP on the MED400X2. The MED450X2 can take the PCIe WiFi Kit and the MED400X2 uses the USB WiFi Dongle. As Hi-Jack already pointed out you need to consider the additional costs of the additional internal components for the HDD and the USB3.0 chipset and the USB3.0 cable. Additionally the MED450X2 comes standard with a high quality HDMI Cable and a Neoprene carry bag (MED400X2 not). So all in all I think the difference in pricing is well justified.

Re: Introduction: Mede8er MED400X2 / MED450X2
Ok..maybe with that.. But please do not understand my post as a criticism. It's more a outflow..
Anyway, has a suggestion, you should consider the sale of a 450x2 unit without the disc included (so the customer could choose the disc he wants or even fit some disc he may have). Any idea of what could be the price of the unit without an internal disc included?
Also, how are this units behaving with jumbo frames?
