Default Dune Smart H1 Power Off Problem

Hey Guys, got a small problem with my Smart H1 and looking for some help. I've had it for about 4 months now and it's great and plays everything but have recently started setting up zappiti and, together with using my Harmony One am trying to get it to turn on and go straight to the Zappiti GUI. I know how to do this and have programmed my Harmony to turn on equipment and select the Zappiti icon. This works fine most of the time but find quite often the dune has powered off rather than going into standby from last use, which means when I next try to start the dune the delay I have programmed into the harmony is not sufficient as it takes much longer to load up. I have checked that the setup option on the dune is for power standby and not power off. Have tried a number of changes to various settings but not getting anywhere.

My setup is as follows: Dune Smart H1 with latest beta firmware (had same problem on last stable firmware) connected to a QNAP NAS (which has my movies and TV shows on it ) by Cat 6 ethernet via a billion router. The Dune has a 2.5 inch HDD installed in it which contains system storage and my music and music videos.

My thoughts on what could be making the Dune Power Down sometimes:

1. Faulty Dune (unlikely ? works perfectly otherwise)
2. When my Dune is in standby and I am using my Sky TV Box is the Harmony sending a second power off command to the dune ? (I have tried re-doing the harmony setup for all my activities without making any difference) I have tried to isolate what I was doing with the harmony the night before the dune powers off but there doesn't appear to be any constant factor here.
3. Is the NAS causing the dune to power off (can't see how, anyway if it was this would happen every night)
4. Overheating from HDD ? (I would have thought unlikely, it's only a 320Gb laptop drive)

Am at a loss now as sometimes it can go for days without powering off and other times it happens every day.

Anyone got any ideas ?

Have exactly the same problem as you an it with my 53D.

There was a thread a while back where there was a small selection of us still having the same issue.

Sorry to disappoint but I still haven't found a solution to the issue. Sometimes it will stay in standby for days then then power off. Sometimes it will power off after a few hours. Really annoying as I'd like to use NSF and having to enter the nfs share after power off before I can use zappiti is really annoying.

Has to be something to do with the harmony as I don't think I had this issue prior to purchasing the harmony.

Yes I saw that old thread but was hoping it might have been sorted by now. I too think it has to do with the harmony - a pity the dune red power light does not go off when it powers off as it would have been easier to track down the offending key press.

The only bit of replication I could get was whilst browsing through the guide on my sky box.

I just leave The dune on now as it doesn't draw much power according to my energy monitor.

Just programmed my harmony to stop playback but leave the dune on when switching activities or powering off. Not desirable but a possibly solution.

May be the harmony is sending a code for another of your equipment that makes the dune turn off ?

You should share your equipment list and see if you have a common one using the same harmony set up. You never know...(in fact I already read somewhere about a lg remote for a BR player that was turning off a dune when the player was turned on or something similar)

I also have a Samsung Tv but a q97 plasma, marantz av receiver and sky hd box. Just been playing a bit tonight and when I was using my sky box with the dune in standby I pressed the select key on my sky remote (not the harmony remote) I noticed the red light flash on the dune. I then turned over to the dune and yes it was starting up from cold. I could have understood if this had happened with the harmony remote but the sky remote affecting the dune ?

IR codes are similar to morse code.

If for example your sky select button ir code is: - - . . -

And the power off for dune is: - - . It will have this effect.

Can you confirm if the select on the harmony under sky activity has the same effect or if it's just the sky remote.

Ir codes are a bit tricky, as gtunney said the dune ir code can be inside your sky box code, and could work randomly on the dune depending on various factors like angle between the remote emitter and the dune receiver, or the strength of the ir signal (low batteries will make a weak signal). But I think you're looking to the right direction...
