Mark, I use movie only ISOs because with MKV you can have color space problems (or at lease this used to be a problem) with the DUNE and PCH. With BD there were no color space problems, but with files there sometimes are/were.

To me it is the process of copying the contents (fully or partially) from a BD or DVD disc to a HDD. So from my point of view if you have any movies on a HDD that you got off a disc then you 'ripped' them.

Not need to make a MkV to make a custom ISO.
I use clownBD and make all my movies as movie-only ISO so that they play much more quickly.

Because Dune have two different players-one on Sigma and one player made by HDI.

Do you know who designed the BD player, because the BD player is actually correct. HDI did the BD player right? I seem to remember having to wait for a fix for file's color space and I also seem to recall that this was due to a hold up at Sigma?

Curious if the 101 plays that just fine or not.

I got the TV101 about a month ago and I am pretty happy with it. It can play BD ISO and BD folder, but it is the "Lite" playback. The TV101 cannot down convert HD audio (DTS-Master & TrueHD) to stereo. This is a little inconvenient for me because on my movie only ISO files I have only the HD audio track. So movies with HD audio only cannot play with sound on the TV101. For me this is not a huge deal because I don't usually watch movies in the bedroom where this TV101 is located.

When Dune comes out with a 3D player I will likely move one of my Base 3.0 units to the bedroom and put the 3D player in the theater room. At that point I will no longer need the TV101.

Dont rush if this player will be on 867x processor -i,m sure its will be no HDMI 1,4 ,no 3DBDISO-and probably no menu in 3D.

You keep saying this but as far as I've seen you have no actual information to support your pure guess work. The likes of Graham from my-HTPC who is a Dune dealer and in contact with them has stated that the new players will have HDMI 1.4 but still you choose to not believe him.
If you do have any proof of your doubt then please post it so we can make an informed opinion, rather than just taking the word of a known Dune dealer who obviously has no idea - unlike you!

You are totally ignoring the fact that the specs for the SMP8672 lists one of the 3D formats it supports as 'frame packed' which is the format used by BluRay for 3D. So are you saying that Sigma Designs are wrong or simply don't know what their own chipsets are capable of?

Mark.

+1. Frame packed and MVC are the minimum requirements for HDMI 1.4. There're high chances that the new 8672 will have HDMI 1.4...But that doesn't mean that it will be able to run full BR 3D ISO rips as the sigma description doesn't give any clue if it will be able to play or not 3D menus, extras,...which are another part of the BR 3D specs. So it might play only in "lite 3D" mode (movie only, no menus) like the "BD Lite" mode we currently know.

Christophe Cherel theory is that the Max 3D might include 2 chips : 8672 for streaming/playing rips in lite mode and a simple BD 3D chipset, like in any other 3D player, for the full disc features.

But this will be confirmed by the end of the week.

PS : Christophe also hinted to a possible 8920 chipset, replacing the ex-8910...

I have read all the same things. I also know a lot about 3D spec as I help hardware manufacturers with development of such things. The new player doesn't even really need to be HDMI 1.4 for BD 3D playback...

Like you say, we'll see after next week. If there is no new product than I will not hold my breath.
