In settings / information, both the non-working resume players are showing DEBUG MODE at bottom-right of the screen. The working resume doesn't have that - there has to be a connection, but what? This relates to Telnet I think but how the heck are they in debug mode anyway since the firmware is being wiped and then flashed and I've not used Telnet? Strange.

Hello from Greece,nice to be member of your foroum.I have an egreat A1080 (S5) with firmware 0612.I see there is 0808 but i dont know if it is o.k to flash because last year there "briking" problems.Is there any significant reason to update ?I also didnt understand about the license thing (what is it for and how can i get one).Is it possible to go back to 0612 if i want to ? Thanks for your time.

It's all kinda complicated, but the bricking problem seems to be pretty much gone now.

There is no significant reason to upgrade.

I would advise you to stay with 0612 . . . it's my favorite and for me the best. (It's currently not 100% possible to return to the original 0612 if you go to the newer Dune FWs.)

Maybe BorisBlank can tell you something about the dune_bdprime3 firmware, he's flashed them and is happy w/ one of them. But you need a universal remote control like a Harmony, because the commands don't correspond 100% with the original Egreat remote.

Thanks for your time,i believe my remote is type 2 (because i use it as type 2 and i dont have problems).You flash directly from 0612 to 0808 or is another way ? The license is needed for bluray playback ?The email you sent is for m3 only or for egreat too.Ι use yadis and i have to rename (with a small script) dune.txt to 4ths.txt,in this firmware the egreat is "4ths" or "dune".Ι know a lot of questions .. Thanks again.

just wondering that is it possible to buy dune remote control and use it with egreat unit? I've been crossing my fingers everytime i install new firmware that the remote still usable

I have an android phone and the dune remote app is working fine with 0612

If you are happy with 0612 then don't bother with 0808, its pretty much identical. The only real difference is the ability to use 3tb Hard Drives. There are risks in upgrading (especially when there is no real need to) and its not worth the risk unless you are prepared to do some work in restoring your A1080 if it all goes horribly wrong. 0808 is a VERY minor upgrade and is NOT worth it if your A1080 is working perfectly. Losing your license or in my case frequently used remote commands is no fun.

EDIT: Just had a quick play with the original EGreat black remote, as far as I can tell (and I'm on 0808 firmware), its only the volume buttons that doesn't work, you have to use PG Up and Pg Dn instead. " Pop Up Menu" brings up the full list of playback adjustments (PAL Correction, Lip Sync, Audio Tracks, Subtitles, etc) so its working, maybe just slightly differently from what you may be used to.

thanks for the replies so I guess I'd get a dune remote(the real one not the app) for my egreat. I think it's gonna be more fun messing around with firmware cause some fw has no internet and remote completely does't work. Has any one try to flash dune fw directly to egreat? I'm using 1544beta and it allows me to download dune fw and install but I wasn't upto it(worried about rollback issue).

Updated to "proper" Dune firmware -Version "120531_2200_beta"(BETA version) but resume still didn't work and Debug still shown in info screen. Was able to downgrade back to 0808 so puttipongl can put his mind at rest BUT the proper Dune firmware only works with the Dune remote codes as he suspected.

Did a full recovery (firmware chip wiped and 408 image installed from hard drive), upgraded to 612 then to 0808 but resume still doesn't work! I wonder if debug mode is installed along with the recovery firmware? Think it is, only explanation.

Anyway, discovered that Auto IP address/DCHP now working again so now able to access Internet, radio etc - not much use really but at least some of the bells and whistles are back working.

I'm convinced Debug mode disables autoresume for some reason - pain in the neck!
