"Can't connect error" after a parse error?
I have just started to experiment with KML and I run into some weird bugs. Here's what I did:
I made my own little KML page and I host it on my NSLU2, with appWeb as webserver. After some trial and error I managed to get it working. What is weird is that after I get a "parse error" (which happens sometimes if your KML page isn't okay) my Webradio link doesn't work anymore. It gives me the "no connection" error. If I wait long enough (couple of hours?? maybe less) the link will work again. Same happens if you access Webradio and then press the "back" button on the remote: It gives me an error message and after that I can't connect to Webradio anymore.
My own KML page is still accessible, but I think all KML pages on the internet will not work for some time...
Is there an explanation for this?
My specs:
DP-1500, FW 2.9.1. My LAN is connected with the web via a broadband router.

It sounds like a DNS resolver problem...

What could go wrong then with DNS resolving? The broadband router has correct DNS server configured (automatically from the ISP) and the PC's (and the KiSS) in the LAN use DHCP so they have the broadband router configured as gateway (the router also acts as DHCP server).

Okay, I tested with fixed IP address in the KiSS 1500 and used for DNS first the gateway machine (as with DHCP) and after that the real DNS server on the internet, but I always get the same results. Once I am in the "no connection state" I just seem to have to wait a long time before my Webradio (and other external KML sites) will function again... ?!? Another weird thing is that I don't see pictures on external KML sites. I load the Tinystocks webaddress in my default KML page, but I will only see the text and outlines,no pictures. When I select a page I get the "not connected" error message and then I can't use external KML sites at all for a certain period.
Any clues? I'm quite desperate as I can't use seem to connect to external KML pages at all, except Webradio!!

weird,
cause webradio is also a external KML page ...with pictures
use dhcp on the player
And a hard reset of the player isn't working ?
then I still think the problem is in your "home" network....

Hi
I also have some problems with "Parse error".
No matter which online service i try to connect to, I get an error message. Fx. if I choose List+Enter when watching a TV-channal, the display says CONNECTING and PARSING. On the screen the error message "Parse Error - An error occurred during the processing of the page." shows after approc. 10 sec.
I have a DP-558 - connected to 10Mbit hub and Cisco 677 router. I got the DP-558 yesterday. It was preinstalled with FW1.1.1
I have setup my DP-558 with the IP 10.0.0.100 - subnet 255.255.255.0 - Standardgateway 10.0.0.1 - DNS server 212.242.40.3.
I am able to ping then DP-558 from my PC.
I can connect from the DP-558 to PC-Link and EzLink NG. / BUT NOT working well
I can connect to the DP-558 from FlashFXP /BUT CAN NOT transfer files to DP-558
I have programmed my router like this
set nat entry add 10.0.0.100 8888 WAN-IP 8888 udp and tcp
The funny thing is that i belive the DP-558 has access to the internet off these reasons:
- The NTP-client is activated - but is not getting me errors
- When playing a CD the DP-558 connects to freedb.org - and shows me the right names of CD-contents
I have read almost every page on the internet corcerning KISS DP-558 - trying almost everything - without any luck
I hope someone can help / give me a clue

Problems is solved
FTP problem due to defect cable between hub and DP-558
Internet problem due to old router. Cisco 677 replaced with Zyxel 650R-31
THIS IS NICE

Well i finally solved my problem. I had to enter a static IP address for client and DNS in the KiSS. I can now use Tinystocks and find all other KML pages on the internet. It seems when I use the DHCP option with the KISS player the DNS address is not correct.
It's weird though: I use the DHCP server in my Router and all other computers have no problem finding the correct DNS.
