Hi,

I'm looking to buy a new DVD player for my study. Unfortunately, because of space restrictions, I'm unable to buy a full width DVD player. I was going to buy the Sony DVP-F35P as this is a small footprint but can't find anywhere with them in stock.

Anyway I digress. I've now found the Kiss DP-1000 which looks just what I need. Reading the forums, I've noticed there's lots of talk about problems with various versions of firmware and hardware combinations, but my main question is this. Do these problems (if I get any) affect all types of DVD playback, or just Divx playback?

Most of the time I'm just going to be playing commercial DVD movies and home movies burnt into DVD Video format on DVD-R's.

I can live with the odd problem playing 'non standard' DVD media, but if I'm going to find issues with nornal DVD movies then I can see it might start to iritate me.

Finally, I also read that the player can get quite warm. The position I'm planning on putting it will be enclosed on both sides and will be either on top of or, or under a VHS recorder. Does anyone see any problems with this?

Not a good idea
Look for something else...

In an open space, it would fit your needs although it can block on normal DVD's as well. The latest FW solved this issue except that DVD's stop playing after 3.35 minutes often...

It would cause you headaches so go for another small player like the Vision SLX

Have had a look at the Vision SLX and it looks great so have taken your advice and ordered one.

Just a quick question. I had an email confirming my order, but not one requesting payment. Do you know how long this takes?
